And Australia used to be known as New Holland. Not even a little inaccurate or confusing to continue referring to it as such, eh?

So? Beside the point. Anyway, enough of this s**t. Trolls... back under the bridge.

Apparently the Bin Laden tape this time didn't mention an attack like the other ones, all it really said was the acknowledgement and praise of one of the hijackers, as well as pointing out how the Americans brought it on themselves. Funny thing is, how do we know that these things weren't recorded years before, and are now just being aired to remind everyone that the terrorists are still active? For all we know, Bin Laden could be dead; photographs and tapes aren't really any proof. Dates on those things can be forged, and because no-one can speak or read Arabic....
But as for newspaper senationalism, I'd just round-file the lot.

Doesn't matter if he's dead or not, does it. The speech before this one he mentioned a book. It's by one of our ex top intelligence officers. You know why? Because some of the intelligence guys that Bushy got rid of realized an odd thing about a lot of what Ben Laden has been saying from the start. You wouldn't believe me if I said it. Just remember a bunch of top intelligence officers aren't there anymore and they were saying something W didn't like at all. The next step isn't hard to figure out.

People would rather get all lathered up to the beat of the patriotic drum fervor, makes them feel all viral or some dumb ass thing. Beat each other over the pointy heads on each side of the argument. The old man told me when I was just a kid, that would be about 40 years ago. If you hear the patriotic drum beat, they're going to try and take something away from you. Ain't it the damn crying truth.

Where's Tom Paine when ya need em.

What are you on about?

This country is AOTEAROA/New Zealand since when did anyone call it Erewhon?
It is made up of hundreds of Islands the two largest are known in English as the North and South Islands, or Te Ika O Maui [the fish of Maui] and Te Waka O Maui [the canoe of Maui] in the north [and the Soth Island as Te Wai Pounamu [waters of greenstone/treasure] to Ngai Tahu].
Could you please explain where Erewhon comes from as I have never heard anyone refer to these lands as that and I have lived here all my life.
peace j

Sorry - that was an attempt at humor. Erewhon is a Utopian Novel written by Samuel Butler - although Erewhon was a fictional place, the landscapes were taken from New Zealand.

Erewhon is approximately Nowhere when read right to left.

Very often publications/ journals change names. (In earth sciences I could give two such examples)

But, to return to the subject, I suppose that both names will be still used, as ther old documentations will refer to the old names, and the new ones, to the more recent one. (this example relates to the case with that Earth Science publication journal)

A pitty that some particular food and particular part of the planeet is called Erewhon.
In my view the beauty of the word Erewhon fades away.

Anyway, my Erewhon can't be found 8)
