If you watch a televangelist and say that the entire Christian faith must be ****ed up based on that observation, it would be like watching Fox News and saying that all of America must be ****ed up like that...

No, America is far more seriously messed up in more ways than you can imagine, and it is getting worse everyday, with every news report, with every legal action, with every bit of legislation it gets worse and it will keep getting worse until only the Left can tolerate it.

Australian media probably paints an ultra-conservadox religious State ready to flood the world with intellectual darkness or some other item of damnation. America is far from that, at least what I've seen of it.

I dunno, Iamnotaparakeet is exaggerating to the point of a strawman, but Canadian Media also paints America as pretty right wing. And almost every Canadian I've met who's spent a fair amount of time down there.

And the American shows that do claim that the Left is taking over everything generally have pretty wierd ideas about Canada, like we're being oppressed by free medicare and cheaper medical drugs. Cause yeah, knowing that I will be treated immediately in the case of an emergency, and not have to wait for my insurance to clear, really keeps me up at night. So I have difficulty taking these shows seriously.

No, just as a mish-mash of left and right-wing attitudes where members of the same party will hurl overt insults at each other (Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama, I am looking at you) while nutjobs such as Fred Phelps run loose, and freedoms of individuals takes precedence over proper altruism, and religion is venerated more than science.

That Jesus is returning soon is cause for great excitement, which is why it occasionally breeds excitability, so that Christ's soon return is sometimes predicted with more precision than the Bible actually utilizes. Jesus Himself said, "No man knoweth the day or the hour" of His return, so modern self-appointed "prophets" should take great care, and get back to reading and teaching Scripture.
