US housing code wouldn't allow it.

Not so much wanting that as just not caring.

The current housing codes will not allow it.

As soon as politicians find out ways to make bank off building "Coffin Homes", you can bet that the codes will change.

They won't. The entire mindset on this is completely different between the US and most of Asia.

there will be more homelessness then. money don't grow on trees. middle class and working class jobs are going away by the day. even doctors have to fear. no jobs, no affordable housing.

That video is pre covid. I'm betting covid turned them into literal coffin homes.

That is not what this video showed. It showed an apartment barely big enough to lay down in. A home made from a shipping container would be a huge step up size wise.

There's discussion and planning of a general strike in the US seeking to pursue a 25% corporate tax rate (No loopholes), Free Healthcare for all, 12 weeks paid paternity and maternity leave, $20 minimum wage, 4 day work week and bans on single use and micro plastics, and limited emissions.

Do you believe there will be any significant participation? If so, how do you think it will be responded to?

Just reread this. Which idiot wants to ban plastic beverage bottles and shopping bags?

Where I live rents, property values and taxes are all high and I'm fine with that. It's a beautiful place with tree lined streets, little or no crime, and well maintained homes and I'd like it to stay that way.

That shipping container is likely around 320 square feet on average. My studio apartment is only around 20 more square feet than that container. I pay over $1400 per month to rent it with utilities. It is the cheapest apartment in my building and in the surrounding several city blocks. That is the housing market in this area, so I deal with it. I walk to and from work over an hour each day. I am not complaining as it is good exercise for me. Small cars would cost an extra $150 per month to park at my apartment, more for large SUVs and trucks.

If I can get by on that little living space, I see no reason why others cannot do the same. They just need to learn to live simple, rather than buying too much stuff for their living space.

Wow, that's like Seattle prices, I'm kind of curious where in the Midwest has housing prices that high, Seattle went through the roof when we because a serious tech hub, I wasn't aware that things had gotten so expensive outside the coastal cities.
