Increased revenue and decreased emergency care=higher cost? More health coverage=less access to health care? I don't follow.
And innovation has no bearing on health insurance whatsoever.
Yes, some people will pay more. Yes some people will lose health plans that don't cover emergency care, hospitalization, and cancer treatment. Yes, some premiums will go up.
Many people will pay less. Many people will actually be able to have insurance. Many people will be able to get non-life threatening treatment for serious health problems. Most people who are facing premium increases will qualify for subsidies, lowering their out of pocket expenses.
If you are angry about cancelled health plans, you can thank the insurance companies. They are not required to meet the minimum standards for quite some time. They are cancelling the plans in order to maximize their profits while they know that they aren't the ones who will be taking the heat for it.
In summation, many people will not be better off under the ACA. Many more will be, though.
The increases are happening already, there is a shortage of doctors and nurses already how will that be relieved with more patients? Many doctors are already declaring that they will not see any Obamacare patients, and disconnecting health care from the market will disincentive innovation. It will be a disaster, it is already cracking at the seams.

The president LIED when he passed this law, the American people didn't want it then and now reality is setting in for the rest. The people responsible for this mess will be punished. They knew this law would cause millions of people to be kicked off their policies and they knew that it raises costs. For a selfish few they don't care, their hearts were filled with envy and coveted what others have worked for, for them ideology and feeling right means more than results. Nobody wanted this law, not even its most ideological supporters. If they can't have what they want, then nobody can. It was always a trojan horse, a stepping stone for socialized medicine. The law's intention was to destroy the American healthcare system, you can already hear these ideologues push for what they wanted all along out of the failure of Obamacare. There doesn't need to be any more debate, this law speaks for itself, now its supporters must live with the consequences.
for Christ's sake! there never was an American healthcare system per se, it was only exorbitantly-priced health care services intended just for people with money, and such a [pre-PPACA] non-universal set-up that systematically prices out the working class is NO SYSTEM deserving of the name. and speak for yourself when you say the "American people" didn't want it! I am an American people and I WANTED IT!
As I mentioned previously, if my brother was born in ANY other country in the world he would of died shortly after birth because of a congenital heart defect. This isn't me talking out of my ass either, this is what the surgeon said to my parents specifically mentioning Canadian healthcare. I do not come from wealth so this rhetoric of class warfare means nothing to me, I know where I come from. Obamacare will raise costs, restrict access, and destroy innovation. In fascist America, the trains do not run on time.
My friend it sound like you've been drinking too much libertarian tea...It does not work in the real world....
It's a pipe dream..and only a philosophy..to this point...
If you have cancer and don't have health care insurance you are likely gonna die sooner... It's as simple as that...
There are not people dying in Canada without cancer care....
And there is no price higher than death...
And if your brother is still alive..and your miracle happens and Obamacare goes away...yeah he could die too..again..if he cannot get insured with a pre-existing condition..so be careful what you wish for..is always a good policy...the best insurance policy in fact....
America has the highest survival rate for cancer in the world, in countries with socialized medicine you die waiting for your appointment.

Well it's a bigger disaster when ya can't get health care at all and you die...
Maybe this is not good for you ..but it is a life saver for other people..who cannot afford health insurance or afforded the opportunity..finally they win....because someone was brave enough in congress to make it happen..and yeah it's going to be a rocky road for a while to get the bugs out..but without any trying at all..as was the case before this law was passed... there is failure...without any chance for success...
There is finally an opportunity for success now..where there was only failure before...
So depending on which side of the glass you are drinking out of..IT's all about success.....

WRONG. for the first time since I can't remember when, I now have real health insurance coverage that I can actually afford, meaning I no longer have to spend over half my income on a catastrophic-only plan. people who opposed universal health care always managed to leave out the fact of the subsidies.
I wasn't including you in "us". We're paying for your health care. What did you do to earn it?

You were already paying for people's health care through Medicaid.
You earn it by existing in a culture that isn't a third world country that lets people starve and die of curable illnesses.
If I ever get a job I'll be glad to have Obamacare available to me.

What should a company have a heart? A company exists to make money, not to care about you outside of earning your business.

I oppose Medicaid too.

Well..what did you do to earn..the roads you drive on...
Nah..you didn't pay for that did you....
It's part of the social welfare state..that is part of all successful free market economies...
There is over 2 trillion annual dollars put in to the economy as a direct result of social welfare programs in the US...
If those programs were eliminated tomorrow the country would fail..simple as that...
Everyone benefits from the social welfare state that is part of the system that works in this country...and in all others too...except for someone who might live in the woods as a hermit..which fall in the very low numbers of demographics...
If you get disabled you are going to be wanting to eat and have your health just like anyone else...
This is the safety net for all successful societies..and the most successful ones..are the ones where there is even sharing and cooperation...of the goods for the good of all the citizenry...
Most of the folks here talking are still living with their parents..and haven't even had to get out in the 'real' world yet..on their own..and face the real jungles of life..
The dude you are talking to is almost 60..come back and tell us how you faired in life once you meet all the obstacles a 60 year old has to meet in this world..and let us know about all the help you received that allowed you any potential to survive...
Life is tough..but if we don't help each other we die..it's as simple as that..and hasn't changed from the first time man was born as a social animal....
And yeah..don't start on me..I have some of the worst health problems known to mankind..but I am still much stronger than you..and yeah I am on disability too..and worked over 30 years...in more ways than you can imagine...
And yeah I saved several hundred thousand dollars too..as I don't even need money to be happy...
All i need is hard work and love...whether it is creativity..or really making a living...
That is the secret to life..love and helping other people...
The rest of the folks just usually die in darkness..
Or if one lives in Japan..and lives their life online...
Having no connections in real life...
The cleanup crews just come into to clean up the slime of lonely old folks....
That forgot they are social animals..

Just out of curiosity, what is your definition of earning it? Does it make any allowances for people who worked hard and paid taxes starting at 18 and then had a major catastrophe leave them bankrupt and unable to work at age 50? How about veterans wounded in the line of duty? Where exactly do you draw the line?

Then what are people with no money and no insurance supposed to do? Drop dead?
This seems to be a common argument when people oppose paying for you. If you legitimately want to know the answer to a question, don't follow it up with an illogical catastrophic conclusion.
What you're supposed to do is find (and appreciate) support from your friends, family, and charities. What you're not supposed to do is demand that the general public support you.
You know, I'd have a lot less animosity toward freeloaders if they expressed appreciation for public support. But they don't. They think they are entitled to it.

That is a totally logical conclusion. Just last year I had cancer. No Medicaid would have meant I couldn't have any treatment which would presumable lead to death.
I don't have friends, my family certainly can't afford to pay for surgery, chemo, and radiation. I have no idea what charities would pay for that.

I think you are missing the obvious math here friend..The odds are much higher in dying from cancer with no health insurance than getting a little delay on treatment.. That is simple math my friend.. Just simple math...
And if you are really autistic..you are about 80 to 90%.. statistically speaking.. going to have to go on some type of social welfare program yourself by the time you hit middle age unless your parents money is enough to support you..after they 'leave' the nursing home..
Same statistics for every other young person discussing this on the spectrum in this thread too...They just do not see that reality when they are young...
By the time..you hit 50 or 60..and really don't have insurance then...and really are suffering and dying...come back and tell us how alone you feel without help from others..You'll really see the reality then my friend... I assure you of it..If you live that long....
And yeah..just my opinion..based on statistical data too..but I assure you i am correct..believe it or not...
Seriously if you could really get your wish..you would likely eventually be literally cutting your own throat...
The only problem is..you can't see the blood yet....
Just a metaphor..my friend...just.. a metaphor..of hard cruel reality...
You don't make it by yourself..no one else does.. nor will they ever...
We are social animals..there is no escaping that reality...
What that means..is cooperation and sharing...
For it to ever work..
in the real reality....

Yes, actually, I do. I earned it by producing and paying taxes. My tax burden is an order of magnitude higher than the services I receive.

That's a contradiction. Social welfare is opposite of free market.

False. Social welfare is a redistribution of wealth. There is no creation of wealth through social welfare, so nothing is added to the economy.

There is no evidence to suggest that this is the case.

Age is not an indicator of experience. It's also not an indicator of wisdom.

Irrational assumptions don't indicate wisdom either.

WEll.. like I said above..take away the freeloading road you drive on..and let's see how long you survive..
It is simply ignorance that people do not understand that we all depend on the social welfare aspect of the United States..and all other truly successful free market economies...
And how old are you..21..still living with your parents..? Easy to hide behind an avatar...
What have you done to deserve to live ..friend...
