US housing code wouldn't allow it.
The current housing codes will not allow it.  As soon as politicians find out ways to make bank off building "Coffin Homes", you can bet that the codes will change.
They won't. The entire mindset on this is completely different between the US and most of Asia.

This was once a shipping container.

That shipping container is likely around 320 square feet on average. My studio apartment is only around 20 more square feet than that container. I pay over $1400 per month to rent it with utilities. It is the cheapest apartment in my building and in the surrounding several city blocks. That is the housing market in this area, so I deal with it. I walk to and from work over an hour each day. I am not complaining as it is good exercise for me. Small cars would cost an extra $150 per month to park at my apartment, more for large SUVs and trucks.

If I can get by on that little living space, I see no reason why others cannot do the same. They just need to learn to live simple, rather than buying too much stuff for their living space.

There's discussion and planning of a general strike in the US seeking to pursue a 25% corporate tax rate (No loopholes), Free Healthcare for all, 12 weeks paid paternity and maternity leave, $20 minimum wage, 4 day work week and bans on single use and micro plastics, and limited emissions.

Do you believe there will be any significant participation? If so, how do you think it will be responded to?

Just reread this. Which idiot wants to ban plastic beverage bottles and shopping bags?

What idiot thinks microplastics aren't a serious issue? :chin:

Wow, that's like Seattle prices, I'm kind of curious where in the Midwest has housing prices that high, Seattle went through the roof when we because a serious tech hub, I wasn't aware that things had gotten so expensive outside the coastal cities.

Sorry but I am not going to give away where I live other than it is in the Midwest. I have been stalked (and threatened) on this site before by a former member. Most of the apartments in my neighborhood are in the $2000 to $3000+ per month rent range. Those prices are for one to two bedroom unfurnished apartments with very little amenities. There are apartments in another part of the city that approach $15000 a month due to location and extra amenities.

I understand his way of living. My twist is that I have 15 full boxes of comic books on top of my regular book collection for reading material. Most of my rare books are either in my office or stored out of state in a storage unit. I do have a bed, a thin table (comic boxes stored under and on it), a chair and a cheap $100 tv. I use an antenna to pick up local channels, as I hate paying for cable. Movies/games are bought on the cheap at thrift stores when I can find them.

Living this way does not mean that I do not live well. I eat off of sterling silver and crystal when I want to. My walls are full of signed art and autographed photos. I just do not let many people into my own world for various reasons.

Banning single use plastic wouldn't be good for the Plebians and Proletariat.

Quatum chemist does not deserve anyone stalking them ...but if someone where willing to invest that kind of time and effort , might consider Dr Fauci as being much more deserving of that kind of attention ! . And preferably through much more serious legal channels . But this is only my POV.
Obama supposably attempted to defund his ( Faucis ) research at one time.

I once gave advice to someone on graduate school research and they took it the wrong way. It involved possible flawed data in their dissertation portion. I pointed out that they should talk to their advisor about it for clarification first, but likely not much will come of it if they can explain the issue (because their dissertation rarely gets read except for the committee members). Many times it just leads to some of the data needing to be remeasured during the correction stages. Evidently it did not go their way and I got blamed. They berated me several times on here, as well as messaging me with threats. I will just leave it at that.

Yeah, I have been to a few of them over the years. They can be expensive though. The last one cost me $2000+ by the time it was over. But, I look at them as a vacation from reality. I really need it sometimes after dealing with the stress at work. Many of my coworkers look down on me because I go to them. They see it as childish, but I do not care.

By the way, I was digging into my comics last month and came across one that I had forgotten about. It was a coverless comic that I paid a $1 for at an antique shop. I bought it on a hunch, as it looked like it could be interesting. The comics showing looked like those from the old newspapers. Turns out it is a first issue of The Funnies from October 1936 (pre Superman to those not into comics). It has the first appearance of Alley Oop in a comic book. (And they say you cannot buy anything for a buck anymore!) It is going to go into my grading pile for the next comic con I go to. Not my oldest, rarest or most valuable comic book, but definitely a good find.
