Pleased to see Trump backtracking on his promise to pull out of NAFTA. A couple of tiny tweaks and now he thinks it is "incredible". Still needs Canada's approval, of course, but given the seemingly insignificant nature of the renegotiations I don't think that will be a problem. Maybe the symbolism will be important, but Trudeau is a pragmatist and probably willing to let the Americans put on a show every 16 years if it means the borders stay open.
I guess the upside of Trump having a lot of supporters who stick by him no matter what he does is that he can backtrack on his promises when they turn out to be bad ideas.
It remain to be seen; Trump is all bent on destroying Quebec family farms for the benefice of US industrial scale farms, and neither Canada federal government, or Quebec provincial government want such a thing.
There is also this thing about Trump wanting the market conflicts been resolved by US tribunals.
For Trump a good deal is a deal that is only favorable to his side, even if bad for the other side, but things don't work that way: it's not like the Canadian government don't care about the interests of it's country.
Nor the canadian government want to give fuel to separatist parties one month before Quebec election, even if a PQ victory is unlikely now.
