So it seems to me as well. I was pretty oblivious to such things up to less than a year ago. But the more overall I hear and read overall, it seems a clear agenda of control over society by those who liberally make accusations of fascism. Hopefully what's taking place lately is a sign of their eventual downfall, which they seem to be going at great lengths lately to expedite.

What are you talking about!? Because peoples are defending their rights against someone who act and talk like a fascist don't mean they have a agenda to control society.

It seems to me it's more like anyone who doesn't think like them, gets liberally branded as a fascist, racist, whateverphobe et al by them. All in the disguise of "political correctness" and "social Justice". Putting undesirable labels (a lot which they made up) on people who don't conform to their ideology is a great way of controlling society. Trying to exert absolute control over society seems pretty fascist to me.

Well it stinks that people have called anyone a Nazi without cause. If someone says something which sounds fascistic, then the thing to do is point out how what they said sounds fascistic. Or that it sounds absurd, or whatever.

Well, you would hope people would treat each other with respect. You know, I once attended an employment-related seminar on communication and conflict resolution. What the instructor never said but what I picked up on anyway, is that if one or both parties in a conflict has ill will and is determined to remain an enemy and disagree, then no matter how good your conflict resolution skills are (even if you're an NT with the best social skills in the world), odds are the conflict won't be resolved in an ideal way, that is, peacefully and to everyone's satisfaction.

I think people have a great ability to detect when people view their adversaries as humans with fairly standard motivations, and when they see their adversaries as monsters. The second type just seems further removed from reality the more you read their posts, no matter how skilfully they try to elicit sympathy for their well-ruminated grievances.

And that's one of the main reasons why Trump is in the White House.

I think things have indeed ramped up / escalated during the time frame you mention.
And,
I like your optimism.

If hating a so-called leader who is racist, sexist and ableist is "excessive", then I plead guilty. :x
Especially when other people use their support for such a person as a reason to MURDER in Canada or anywhere else.

You have no idea what fascism is then! Branding peoples don't prevent them to express their opinions, not like the imprisoning or killing made in fascists regimes. The US right too is branding peoples by the way; they accuse Black live matter of racism. those burning flags as being traitors and they consider that peoples not being patriotic enough from their standard should go live in other countries or whatever: free speech give them the right to do so, as it must be for the left to use "political correctness" or whatever.

Not aimed at anyone in particular here, but this is what I wrote in January of last year:

I honestly thought back then that he had little chance of being elected. In fact, I thought he'd drop out of the race months before the general election.
I was right about what Trump's being elected would do to them, though...

Of course it does.

Just because they don't have that particular power, doesn't mean they aren't trying to silence those who don't subscribe to their ideology and dictatorially control society.

They're doing what the others they are against do, isn't much of a defense. What it says is they're not any better, dispite them trying to make themselves out as better. It's plain and simple hypocrisy. They've blown their cover and now everyone sees them for what they really are.

Obviously there is some division and conflict in this country though...or else tensions wouldn't be running so high over this.

Absolutely!

It seems Trump's doctor gave an interview, and discussed his patient's medications without consent. That's a clear breach of ethics. I guess the story was worth printing, or at least it's defensible. I do feel stupidly reassured after reading it that there don't appear to be psychological effects from the prostate/baldness drug, and regrettably amused that one side effect is aching testicles.

Maybe hatred needs to go away, but NOT anger. Stay angry.
In Trump's first two weeks in office, he's tried to ban people from seven Muslim countries, and they're not even the ones that were connected with major terrorist attacks in the past. He's proceeded with a nonsensical border wall without the cooperation of Mexico - this is a problem because without cooperation from Mexico's own authorities, the wall will be next to useless. Relations with important trade partners, including Mexico and China, are worsening, and that WILL have an impact on the economy. He's restructured the security council by removing experts and putting in Bannon, is advisor - this is a consolidation of power. He's also moving to take apart Obamacare, which effectively means affordable healthcare options will no longer be available to people seeking a plan. He's appointed many people to positions of power that are completely outside of their areas of expertise. He's made moves against environmental protection.

Of course, during Trump's campaign, he was vague and contradictory about what he'd do. So what did he campaign on? Fear of Muslims entering the country. Fear of Mexicans. Xenophobia toward China.

If you voted for Trump, then you voted for a reality TV star with no understanding of government, who ran on xenophobia. That's irresponsible and moronic. But what made you feel like it was okay to make a vapid reality TV star president? The fact that so many other people were doing it. You followed the crowd. You're a lemming.

I broadly agree with everything else in your post. I have some comments about Nigeria's christian majority. They seem to want to impose the death penalty for homosexuality. The same radical right evangelicals who support Trump have their fingerprints on the movement there, promoting their version of American values. I want to make sure that the various christian terror groups get at least Obama-level vetting.

Thanks for laying out the case so well, though. Whatever the direct impact from replying, that kind of contribution to the debate will have a chance to reach lurkers on the margin of opinion.

Please, can people in the world stop bashing Trump so excessively? It's starting to burn too much. I did think that he is kind of an embarrassment. He may have done or said things which mocked the disabled and every other "minority" group. But I'm pretty sure the progressives and liberals have the same issues.

And I think disagreement or even hate =/= killing an entire group of people. A lot of the anti-Trump people are actually behaving way more sick and deranged than the people who voted for him are.

I'm keeping my hatred and anger in moderation. But does anybody notice?

96 percent of those that voted for Trump would do so again so the left doubling down on "resistance" has not been productive and most likely counterproductive. People should be the "loyal opposition" not the "resistance". If they do succeed in helping Trump completely meltdown a lot of people could get killed and really messed up.
