I am an aspie and an atheist. I've never believed in god. When I was little, I was told biblical stories, but they were never very strongly differentiated from the other fairy tales, or actually, from the stories that were made up on the spot. As I have became older, I was shocked to believe that some people really really believe in the guy. It was like if I found out my parents actually believed in the tooth fairy (despite them being the ones to put the money under my pillow).
It seems to me that all that theists run off of is blind faith for their beliefs. I approach life very logically and make decisions based on available information and to be honest, a god hasn't been necessary to explain the universe since 1859. Life was the last big mystery, evolution explained it, and in a much more intellectually satisfying way.
To all of the theists, I would suggest reading some atheist literature, perhaps The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. It neatly sets out a fair number of the most common arguements for god, shows how they are flawed and even gives a good explanation of why believing in god is ultimately a bad idea. Other suggested reading would be The End of Faith, which sets out a case for the dangerousness of faith and the idea that it may be necessary to abandon religion if we would like to avoid serious risks to the continued existance of civilization.
