Trump says Syrian Christians will be given priority refugee status

I would LOVE to know how President Trump thinks he'll be able to definitively prove that someone's a Christian----I mean, ANYBODY could LIE / tell a little story about Moses floatin' down the river in a basket, and they're in, like Flynn!!

I agree

Especially since Muslims are the biggest victims of terrorists anyway.

It's cells. That's the answer.
My reason for asking Kraichgauer that question has to do with religion. If one is religious, a person shouldn't be for abortion.

However, it depends on your religious beliefs that determine Pro-life or otherwise. From what I remember as a junior high school student, Catholics, evangelical and fundamentalist Christians view life as beginning when sperm fertilizes the egg in utero. Jews, and the more liberal Christian denominations, believe you are not a living, breathing person until you are outside the womb. (I think this view is wrong, but who am I to tell someone otherwise?)

Thanks Mr. M. He must be in the liberal Christian denomination - he's Lutheran.

Not quite. We're both Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod, which is somewhat conservative. He and I agree to disagree, as he was born and raised LC-MS, and I was raised Southern Baptist, with a twist of Amish, Mennonite, and Dunkard (Church of the Brethern) influences.

If you want to talk about off the edge liberal Lutheranism, it's the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, which, in my humble opinion, is no longer Evangelical nor Lutheran. I left that group 2 years ago, after having it out with the pastor, when she fired the music director that was in that congregation at the time. That incident was the straw that broke the camel's back, as I was a member and employee (as a tenor soloist) that saw too many changes that were anti thick to Scripture.

The only major Lutheran group that's even more conservative than LC-MS is the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod(WELS) and the smaller Norwegian cousin in the US, the Evangelical Lutheran Synod. That group are the rabid dog John Birchers of Lutherans (Just ask Jacoby, as he was brought up in WELS). My only experience with WELS was owner 30 years ago, and it wasn't too pleasant. I had just moved from PA to Metro Chicago. I rushed to O'Hare to drop my Dad off for his flight back to Baltimore. I decided to take a look at some of the Lutheran congregations in the area. The only service I was able to make was a WELS congregation. The pastor recognized me as a newcomer, and asked that I introduce myself. I introuced myself and told them I came out of the LCA (one of the predecessor churches of the ELCA). I was persona non grata after that in that congregation.

So yes, Virginia, it is possible to be a political liberal or even a moderate in a mostly conservative denomination. Some congregations are fine with that: others will run you out of town on a rail.

Interesting. Mexico spoke with Trump after all over the phone. I knew they would come to their senses.

They aren't, because they never lost their senses. Last I heard, the American people will flip the bill for that damn wall, which means Trump's backing down when push comes to shove. And Mexico is pushing talk about that wall back up his a$$, from whence it came.

Actually, I would pay extra taxes to build the wall - just so it's done.

Well I'm not, because it'll go down in history as Trump's Boondoggle. But it won't be Trump's Boondoggle, it'll be ours, because we'll be paying out the keaster for it, not him.

We can expect a 20% tax on beer and candy. If I'm going to pay extra for beer, at least I'd prefer to pay for something useful, like health care for all, not a barrier that sounds like it was dreamed up by someone drinking too much beer.

Demos had 8 yrs to start an idea like yours. They didn't want to. And, I don't drink anymore or eat much candy. I hear smoking is going up too.

Back in the Clinton days, when the idea of health care for all had been floated by Democrats, along with the idea of taxing cigarettes to pay for it, the right jumped all over idea, which was a major reason why such health care reform ended up failing. But yes, I wish the Dems wouldn't have been so gunshy this time around to tax alcohol, tobacco, and sugary treats to pay for health care.

I think that will hurt them more than us.
