One day, I looked around at the world and pondered all the murder and cruelty in it.

Got convinced that God was not to blame for this. And this particular verse started to really bother me:

Isaiah 48:9

“For my name's sake I defer my anger,

for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you,

that I may not cut you off.

I take this to mean that we are on a countdown to getting judged.

The Christian gospels state that Jesus offered his life to save ours -- saving us from the judgment against sin, making reconciliation on our behalf and restoring us back to a personal spiritual relationship with God, the Father.

I'm willing to believe in a blameless, just and sacrifically-loving God. That's who Jesus claims to be... that he suffered and died, and rose again, in order to prove his love to mankind. To prove that he and the Father are one. I'm willing to accept and surrender my heart to that.

Repentance and Spiritual Rebirth:
Jesus promises to indwell the heart and soul of those who call upon him as Lord.

I am Catholic, but am very self-conscious about it.

The term "Catholic" does seem to have connotations of negativity...

I am a Lutheran ( the Assoc. of American Lutheran Churches ). We are a off-shoot of the old ALC that refused to join with the ELCA. We are not as dogmatic as the Missouri Synod, although we do cross-commune with them. We emphasize Salvation by Grace through Faith in Jesus Christ. Sola Scriptura !

We are against it. Though as far as civil unions go, we leave that up to an individuals secular conscience. I personally feel that if a homosexual couple lives in a monogamous, long-term relationship, they should have all the legal rights of a married, heterosexual couple, but I don't think that these should be called marriages. However, the Supreme Court ruled otherwise, so " Render unto Caesar those things that are Caesar, render unto God those things that are God's" As Lutherans, we generally don't get mixed up in affairs of state. This can be good or bad.

You bet your bippy! This may come the fact that my elder brother is gay and is in a long term relationship, but I have seen the love between the two of them, so my conscience leads me to "Hate the sin, love the sinner ".
