What is it with Liberal Progressives Anyways

There's different aspects of intelligence. Academic intelligence isn't the only type out there, so it's easy to think professors are smarter overall if that's the only thing that counts to you. Entrepreneurs are the antithesis of Aspies huh? Cuz we're incapable of being selfish right? I'm not even gonna bother, I've addressed this AS superiority complex a million times in the past so have fun being blissfully ignorant.

Why do people like you always look down on people who aren't entrapreneurs? You prop your "worldliness" and "common sense" up as the superior "American" values and trash anyone who thinks differently?

Not at all. Aspies simply can't play the social game required in the business world, and successful businessman don't generally have the same sort of single-minded focus on a given interest that Aspies do.Not at all. Any game can be learned. A single minded focus if harnessed correctly can be very useful in the business world. Also the last statement is a generalization.

Aspies, virtually by definition, have a much harder time learning this particular game.

Yes, it is. Do you have a point?

You said can't. Which is what my statement was for.

My point was to point, at least for that statement.
@Ace I realized he was likely being general, but I didn't feel like guessing.

I'm confused though cuz you were saying CEO's tend to be good at social networking, manipulating people, and are generally materialistic and said aspies are the antithesis to entrepreneurs after that sentence. So bad timing on the sentence placement I guess?
No, just a comparison based on the traits I listed. Those first two (social networking and manipulating others) really are a function of one's social skills. Businessmen have to have very highly developed social skills, which makes them a contrast to autistics. It is harder to make a generalization about whether autistics are materialistic, but I suspect most of us are more interested in pursuing our own special interests than we are with wealth.

I threw that ivory tower thing out there cuz there's this attitude that runs rampant on these forums claiming we're superior, yet no one really points out the disadvantage of being underdeveloped when it comes to non-academic intelligence. I don't look down on people who aren't entrepreneurs, I simply believe that it's best to be balanced in all aspects of intelligence.
I did not claim we were superior. I merely commented that businessmen are on the "other side" of the spectrum compared to autistics, and that they are also some distance away from "normal." There is no inherent value judgment in that claim, but you chose to read between the lines.

And yeah, I do read between the lines because it's not only the logic I take into account, but the context behind the logic. To only consider the logic is scratching the surface. Your statement was a generalization, but given the context that being a CEO is a social career that extroverts naturally gravitate towards, there's nothing wrong with it. It's not like you're saying something such as "All blacks pack guns and sell crack". Although it's the same logic, it's the context that makes the former make sense and the latter a true sweeping generalization.
AceOfSpades wrote:

It quite clearly was, but whatever.

In regard to notions of "superiority" which I never brought up, you imagined an inappropriate context.
I am fairly literal-minded, as are most autistics. You can usually trust me to say what I mean.

Hospitals have been required to administer emergency care for awhile.

Cuz they're being shot at? If you're trying to save someone, it's a real can of worms to determine whether to hold you responsible or not for the person dying, so it's best to leave it to personal discretion. I'd rather have that than people falsely being thrown in prison.

The part about people being created equally but not ending up equally is interesting because in fact the opposite is true. Someone is born in a hut in Africa is not equal to someone born in a high tech hospital in a Western country but when one's vital signs flatline, well, everyone is equal in that. When they said "each man is created equal" it was in terms of being human and having full rights - is he suggesting that people become classed as worthy and unworthy and either have more than human rights and less than human rights based on how successful they are in life?

Someone who is both intelligent and compassionate won't believe the platitudes this guy spouts. Healthcare is not a right? Why? Because people choose to get sick with an illness they can't afford to treat? This kind of thinking is truly twisted. The guy really needs an ass kicking.

Anyways you may want a nanny state where people are dependent on Government, but I don't. You may believe Government should have unlimited power, but I don't.

I am extremely aware of the disadvantages to being me as I have to deal with them on a day to day basis. I'm not trying to prop one kind of intelligence up over another. I'm just sick of the myth being propagated that intelligence is what makes people "successful" in material terms. If you look back at the thread history you'll see that this whole argument was started when Ruveyn asked "If you're more intelligent then Glenn Beck then why don't you make more money than him" way back on page 2. I thought that statement was rather shallow. Glenn Back isn't successful for his brains. He's successful because he knows how to put on a show of himself. He's an extrovert and an entertaining talker, not a thinker.

Actually I did notice, though I doubt there was anything particularly outstanding in the parts that were edited out. I really can't understand your love for this guy who clearly comes off as a jerk.

You might feel different if you ever develop some disease that requires a $100,000 surgery which no insurance company will pay and mommy and daddy won't pay. Or perhaps you get in a severe car collision with a drunk driver and become a cripple for life. Can't drive to work? Lose your job? Too bad for you. Glenn Beck says suck it up and quit whining. Don't expect any help from anyone as there are no free rides. You determine your own destiny.

Maybe you should ask me what I think instead of proclaiming. In case you haven't noticed you aren't a very good mind reader. It gets really annoying after a while.

Of course it was edited. The most important parts were kept in, and that did not include the part where Beck claims that Progressives and Communists are the same thing (and Woodrow Wilson is supposed to have been a Progressive and he launched a Red Scare during his second term and put the Socialist leader in prison).
