Get this through your head, the entitlement programs are unsustainable, even if we cut everything else including national defense to 0, we would still be running deficits. Like it or not, there have to be cuts and reforms to the entitlement programs, it's basic math.

I might be able to stomach certain cuts if the rich permanently give up their tax breaks. I think it's only logical to say that those billions being given away to billionaires is unsustainable. Especially since we the American people have never seen any returns for all those tax breaks, other than seeing the rich get richer.

The New Democratic Party in Canada (the most left-wing of our main-stream parties unless you count the Greens) would like Canada to become a lot like Sweden, Norway, Denmark and the like. That is considered to be centre-left to left. Our centre-right party, the Conservatives, is, traditionally at least, around the Democrats on the political spectrum. That is: they believe in Universal healthcare (although some believe in establishing a two tear public/private system), they believe that gays should be allowed to form civil unions (which actually is quite conservative in a country where same-sex marriages are recognized), they take no steps to delegalize abortion (although they do oppose it), there is never any mention of Christianity (I believe they have an Islamic MP), they believe in shrinking (but by no means eliminating the welfare state), they even admit that global warming exists (although they do nothing whatsoever about it and have an abysmal environmental record in recent years). And not that this is probably the Conservative party at the farthest to the right it has been in years.
This is similar to Britain, although their labour party is somewhere between our NDP and Liberals. It is similar, if not quite as diverse, to France and other parts of Europe. They still have an active Communist Party (which scares me a little, lefty as I am). Canada's political spectrum is significantly to the right of Northern Europe. None of these are horrible places to live, although, needless to say, some (international studies seem to indicate the Nordic countries, for example) are better than others. So, the horrible left-wing forces you imply that I live with are hardly that bad. So I can hardly feel any sympathy when you talk about how horrible the Democrats are--they are not that bad (except that I view them as too right-wing and the whole American political system as too elitist).

And Joe the Plumber is a fricken idiot. Even John McCain's daughter thinks so, particularly after he equated gay Americans with pedophiles - but he still has gay friends! 1. Clinton resorted to more dirty tricks while in office than George W. Bush, and so has Obama. You can't have it both ways, he can't both be an incompetitent idiot and an evil mastermind.
2. If you read into the Ryan plan, you would know everyone whom is over a certain age would not have any changes occur with their benefits when they retire.
3. Joe didn't ask for the "anointed one" to come waltzing into his neighborhood. He asked a simple question and Obama's answer was extremely damaging to Obama, so the Obama Campaign (which included most of the Press) resorted to villifying a private citizen.
Even if today's grandparents are still set, what about those of tomorrow? What about us when we get up in years? Is my daughter supposed to drain her resources taking care of me? And please, don't tell me that it's our own responsibility to save for our retirement, as it's pretty well proven that it's becoming more and more of an impossibility these days, as people find themselves living off their savings, are not employed enough to save, or find their savings disappear thanks to those heroes on Wall Street.
As for Joe the plumber; he only really got slammed after he couldn't keep his mouth shut, even after McCain lost. And in my honest opinion, a cretin like him deserves it.

Get this through your head, the entitlement programs are unsustainable, even if we cut everything else including national defense to 0, we would still be running deficits. Like it or not, there have to be cuts and reforms to the entitlement programs, it's basic math.
I might be able to stomach certain cuts if the rich permanently give up their tax breaks. I think it's only logical to say that those billions being given away to billionaires is unsustainable. Especially since we the American people have never seen any returns for all those tax breaks, other than seeing the rich get richer.

I fail to see how someone making $250,000 a year is a millionaire or billionaire whom is flying around on a corporate jet... Further you want to talk about tax loopholes, how about we start with General Electric.
Tax the hell out of General Electric, I say. You know who else says that? People of MSNBC, like Rachel Maddow and Ed Schultz, just to name a couple. They have no problem being critical of the hand that feeds them, like Fox should be with Rupert Murdoch but aren't.

You do realize that Comcast now owns the majority of the shares of MSNBC and thus GE doesn't have control of MSNBC anymore.
They had been critical of GE for years and years, without a break. Again, I haven't seen any of Murdoch's people criticizing him.

Regardless of what Bill O'Rielly claims that the hacking scandal never crossed over to America, Keith Olbermann tells a different story of how they had to have hacked into MSNBC computers more than once. But no one at Fox is going to concede that their boss might be willing to break laws for the sake of business success.

Uh why would anyone at Fox News even want to hack MSNBC, they got more than enough material to skewer MSNBC from their demented rants on television, now I suppose Keith wishes that Fox thought he was such a high profile figure, but it seems the people at Fox News considered him to be nothing more than a blowhard.
