Theoretically, I should mostly care about the effect on US foreign policy... I have to assume that Romney would be more belligerent, but I don't even know whether there is a significant difference between the two. Obama seems to be very fond of saying things like "all options are on the table".
"All options are on the table"="F^ off, I'm going to do whatever I damn well please (or maybe nothing at all) and have the media cover it up and eventually spin-doctor it for me!"
or also
"All options are on the table"="Expect more seriously pathological narcissistic behavior."

because those righties have long since had their capacity for rational thought gobbled up by the indoctrination machine that is the GOP. don't forget that a rather large portion of these unfortunate people also believe that the earth was created in six days, that zygots have souls and personality and that their g-d is personally coming to pick them up off this world before he fries the rest of us in a universal barbecue.

Canada doesn't have one thing that America has - though these same righties are too balless to admit it - a black president.

true, true - the funny thing though - since they cannot admit that they hate Obama because he is black (though they are probably silently using the 'n-word') and this is the real reason they oppose him, they have to invent a reason - then why chose country that has a lot more of what they claim they don't want (socialism) than Obama wants to implement in the US - that really defies all logic. one would think they'd choose Italy - oh, right that means they would have to learn a FOREIGN language...

Obama is more brownish orange than black. He does not bear a close resemblance to -real- black Africans who are ebony in complexion. Actually a handsome honest to goodness black African of either gender can be a person of great beauty. Folks like these were the ancestors of all of us, from dark to pale.
I am a member of the slightly olive complexion semite persuasion. Our father Abraham was probably not dark at all. Freckled, red headed and a well define sharp nose. A true son of Sumer where he was born.

Hmm. Then Sumerians did not look like modern day Iraqis?
Myself, as a son of the Rhinelands, I'm ruddy, dark haired, and blue eyed.

Most Pennsylvania Dutch (Deutsch) in fact came from the south middle Rhinelands as did my Dad's people, so who knows, we might be distantly related!

To the best of my knowledge, no. Do you know which particular state or region of Germany your folk originated in? My Dad's people came out of the Kraichgau (hence my name, Kraichgauer) which is today northwestern Baden-Wurttenberg, and across the Rhine in northern Alsace (which is a German speaking part of France). Specifically, closely related South Franconian dialects are spoken in this region (which also includes the Rhineland Palatinate), and is the type of German spoken by the Pennsylvania Dutch. I should mention, my Dad's people in the Napoleonic period immigrated to the Black Sea region in the Russian empire, where they were Russian Germans (like the German settlers on the Volga).

The right will vote for a black candidate when there's one worth voting for, and not any sooner. If you will recall 12 years before the Obamanation, Colin Powell was popular in the '96 republican primaries before he dropped out, and he got to that point on merit. For 40 years both parties gradually adopted the idea of judging people not by the color of their skin but the content of their character, then the liberal media reversed course the moment they found it convenient and invented the affirmative action president.

As I recall, during that presidential campaign, Pat Buchanan had also run for President, and appealed to the very worst in his supporters - racism, homophobia, nativism. Had Colin Powell won the Republican nomination, I have absolutely no doubt that Buchanan and company would have walked out of the convention, and ran a counter campaign.
And by the way, I'm certain you must know that Powell has been an Obama supporter these last two elections. Something which Republicans have taken him to task for, accusing him of only supporting Obama because they share the same skin color.

Canada has one thing that America doesn't have - Stephen Harper. Come to think of it, it's kind of ironic. In the U.S.A. - the country of W., preemptive war, shock & awe, Randism, fundamentalist Christianity & crazy people packing heat - the long-term political trends now seem to point leftward, while in Canada - the country of single-payer health insurance, unrestricted abortion, secularism, multiculturalism & gun control - the long-term trends seem to point rightward. The U.S.A. even has a government that cares about environmental protection & accepts climate change as real. What a turnabout in 6 short years!

I wouldn't sweat it. Canada will always be the kinder, gentler country.

The Republicans have drilled holes in their own heads and have let their brains leak out through the holes. This is not the Republican party of Barry Goldwater.
I am 48 years behind the curve.
