Sure, conservatives should be more like this.

Those guys really touched me. I'm gonna avoid eating salads for a while and will move to steaks and burguers. I'd feel guilty hurting plants.

Every time I see this I want to fire up my chainsaw and cut a swath through the woods behind my house.

I haven't been an avid hunter lately. Not all deer are found in the woods. What about pastures or on the prairie?

I'm can't even guess what that means but it does support my theory of inebriation.

As I am someone who does not fit amongst the norms of society I do dislike a great many of US conservative views/politics. The Republican party has too much influence from major corporations and religious groups. I just cannot agree with many of their views and I find them too apathetic to certain issues that will affect us in the future.

I do admit my views are somewhat left of the political spectrum but I still disagree with some of the Democratic Party's views/politics. That is why I am not registered for any party in the US.

if only they would 1] stop opposing universal health care, and 2]keep their damned bluenoses out of everybody's [but their own, the hypocrites!] bedroom, then they [as a party] would be a lot more palatable.

Depends on the Aspie. It can certainly seem that way online at times, but I think that has as much to do with the demographics of heavy internet users as anything else.

I've been right wing as far back as I was able to make a determination. And I've come across a few others with the diagnosis who are, as well. Though little more to the left than I am, depending on how you define it. Some people might consider me not extreme because I'm not racist. I think Republican politicians are bunch of hypocrites for the most part, so in that I would consider myself extreme as I define myself as too right wing to be a Republican.

The last major party candidate I voted for was Barry Goldwater. Ever since he was slandered and demonized by the Democrats, and the Republicans went south I have not voted for another major party candidate. In the 1960 election I voted for JFK because I wanted to put a stake through the heart of the anti-Catholic nonsense.

Was that the only reason for your vote for Kennedy?

-Bill, otherwise known as Kraichgauer

At the time I thought he was smart and I liked his kick-ass attitude toward the Soviets. He was a war hawk. Not like the Baldwin-Moore pinko stinko America hating commie living lily livered bleeding hearts.

Kennedy was also a war hero. He was a warrior.

Contrast this to your typical pinko stinko commie loving America hating equalizing Liberals that infest our country now.

Really? I had a thread going 2 or 3 years ago based on studies that conservatives give more to charity than liberals.
I give to neighborhood can drives that the scouts around here do, food drives at work, Toys for tots, drives for food and supplies for the animal shelters of this county, I spent a Saturday in some warehouse assembling care packages for the needy. Actually, what I did wasn't actually handling the contents. Me and some doctor busted ass taking pallets and pallets and pallets of folded boxes off of the pallets, unfolding them, and taping the bottoms closed. It sounds easy but the people filling them with food and stuff were coming for those boxes faster than we could assemble them. We were in overdrive the whole day.

This is an interesting thread. I would have thought the concensus would have been more liberal trending. In my experiences the conservatives are the party of hate and discrimination, and I don't why anybody here would want to support that.

Like many of you here, I'm also driven more by logic than by emotions. I'm less likely to be brainwashed by commercials or smiling politicians. A simple study of pure facts easily demonstrates to me that the liberal position is better for the majority of people. Gay marriage doesn't have negative side effects, a living working wage works, universal healthcare works in the countries that have it, the countries with better education systems invest in them and don't focus on private education/charter schools. I think there is a mistaken belief among conservatives that liberalism is about food stamps. It's not. It's about creating jobs and a safety net, and education for people, and in the meantime not abandoning people that slip through.

Had I been around then I may have voted for him, too.
The republican and democratic parties have both evolved (for lack of a better term) into something less palatable over the years. Now it's just a matter of asking myself who makes me less nauseous. It's really a pathetic situation. :?

The deer will be raised on feedlots. Hunters will pay for the opportunity to shoot at the deer crowded together in a pen. It will be like those trout farms where tourists can pay to fish.

Conservatives and liberals are just on the opposite sides of the sandwich, but with almost identical results: at the end of the day you don't get your sandwich.

A compassionate conservative will give you a bite of the sandwich, but if you want more you either need to get a job or start your own business so you can make or buy all the sandwiches you'll ever need. We do help people, we just don't like freeloaders.

A liberal doesn't really care if you work. They'll just give you access to all the sandwiches you want. But you have to sign this form. And we need your last 5 paycheck stubs. Do your kids qualify for free lunch at school? How many children do you have? We need their social security cards. Oh, and we need birth certificates. Sign here, please. You need to go by the health department. (5 hours later). Read and sign here, please. What is your marital status again? Ok, it says here you're NOT a member of a minority group. Ma'am, I'm sorry, but if you'll come by in a week and start the application process over again, you might get approved; but just between us, you need to take off your wedding ring. You probably won't qualify since you aren't faking a disability and don't belong to a minority.

If you give up on the red tape and get a part-time so you can make your own sandwiches, the liberals will say that's not YOUR sandwich. That sandwich belongs to everyone else. You need to give us (liberals) that sandwich so we can divide it up and get it to everyone who actually needs it and don't have jobs so they can make their own. Oh, you're going to stop making sandwiches? That's fine, too, maybe for the best... We'll just raise your taxes so we can increase food stamp programs. That way everyone else can buy whatever they want, not just sandwiches.

I speak from experience...my wife and I found ourselves in a situation not unlike the fictional sandwich.
