Interesting. I'm arrogant for being right. However, you seem to be representing your own personal views or opinions as superior to mine. So now you're not just arrogant--you're a hypocrite.


Actually, I did that before. God told me to go back and read the Bible.

He's told me a lot of things, actually. Almost a year ago I began a 40-day fast. Total reliance on what you refer to "the essence that IS" helped me gain a profound perspective on things I only had a clue about before. Such as:

I think all human beings are sinners. Homosexuals and prostitutes don't hold a monopoly on sin. If you're right, then I'm guilty of arrogance. Big deal. You're guilty of being a hypocrite. So what?

Yes, Jesus spent time with all sorts of sinners, including prostitutes. He asked them to repent of their sins and follow Him. He didn't mean for his disciples to continue in sinful lifestyles.

And I'm not even worried about naturalistic, purely empirical evidence, either. For the record, I think of evidence more in the courtroom sense of the term than the pure-science sense. In this case, scriptural writings do count as evidence. A lot of what I'm reading here is way too heavily influenced by New Age teachings and post-mortem...er, post-modern...religion and philosophy. Aghogday himself said it best by admitting that this is all just HIS opinion. I suspect these "opinions" are ill-supported, if at all.

No need. The idea that God speaks to believers is axiomatic to aghogday's and my common view of God/"the Essence." He is, in effect, touting his own (I'm assuming pantheistic) view of a/the Supreme Being as superior to mine, which I find ironic given the case he's trying to build.

Just because your interpretation of scripture is arguably more parsimonious than aghogday's doesn't mean you have the evidence for the god that you believe in.

Like I said It's only my opinion..that's the difference between arrogance and humility..I am not suggesting I have the only truth about GOD..and you are...

The evidence is clear..IT IS my life..and my TRUE WiLL..NO ONE CAN EVIDENCE THAT BUT ME....

The folks that wrote about Jesus did not even encounter him per historical records...Read the book Zealot..or even the new one by Bill O'Reilly.. if you really want to expand your views on the actual historical facts surrounding the man Jesus...

There are hundreds of ways to interpret legal text..and there are almost unlimited ways to interpret poetry..that is dependent on each individual's experiences in life..and whatever illusion of reality they create for themselves...

And yes everything in life..IS Illusion as no one sees the true reality..of WHAT IS..as that would mean that there is consistency in all that is per human eyes..which is already evidenced by science.. as incorrect....

The bottom line is you cannot possibly have the only path to GOD or understanding Jesus..as you are basing your evidence on only your interpretation of poetry..in effect..that thing called the bible...

The biggest mistake is taking IT literally..as IT was never meant to be taken literally..

The folks that wrote IT knew very well that IT was a form of poetry..to elicit many different meanings for many different people....

And that is kinda kool cause different people get different benefits out of the same words that never have a Universal meaning...

As the Poetry of the Bible is always up for extremely different interpretations....

Now again..that is just my opinion..again..and as I said earlier and WILL repeat again..believe as you WILL..

I think everyone should be able to do that..

So when was the last time, in your view, that healthy skepticism was applied? That you use the word "finally" suggests things haven't been satisfactory for you lately in this forum. And do you really believe that an appeal to scripture indicates healthy skepticism?

The problem with people communicating their experience with what some people describe as GOD..IS any two people can experience this abstract construct very diFFERNTLY...

I do not see GOD as what most people would describe as nature reALLy..I see GOD as an incredible force to do GRE@ things..if one can simply tap into the GOD force..

Now here's the thing..for thousands of years people have been trying to develop poetry and metaphors to describe their personal experiences with this essence they describe as GOD..

The problem is..th@ people who do not directly experience the greater nuances..

And forces of energy..th@IS currently described as a formless energy..

Simply because science has no direct way of measuring this energy...

Cannot possibly understand what IT IS TH@ I and others may describe as GOD...

Probably not since quatermass passed his edict and banned a few regulars several years ago, there has been a steady flow of absurd thinking since then. I stopped posting for a long time because I got sick and tired of the circular arguments, and the refusal of the yecs to see the evidence for what it is. I suspect that the likes of Orwell, Master Pedant, AG have done the same. Fnord is still carrying on the good fight, I seem to remember a post where he described Orwell (very scientific deist) and someone else as being like a wonderfully crafted sports car, ruined by having bubble gum wheels, again from memory I think angelrho got a tongue lashing in that same post.
