If one must accept this as true then one must accept this corollary as true as well. Conservatives complain about this corollary as well. They see it as unfair that some people get to do nothing while others have to bust their ass. Based upon the unfairness of life shouldn't conservatives accept this corollary as well? Why do conservatives have such contradictory and inconsistent beliefs such as this?
Life not being fair doesn't mean you don't wish it was, I can't imagine anybody being happy about somebody being handed something they had to bust their ass for. Whether it be it be taxpayers looking at welfare recipients or the 99% of us who didn't get a massive corporate bailout, the feeling makes sense to me. It's a lot easier for some people to recognize the fraud/waste/abuse in our welfare system and resent them for it because these people actually exist to the average American. I don't know any Goldman Sachs executives, nobody I know will ever be given a "golden parachute", where I'm from they refer to as flyover country. What poor people have taken pales in comparison to what the richest of the rich have been given by their buddies in DC. The rich and the powerful like to switch places from time to time, if you're not rich before being elected to congress then you will be after or at least that's how it seems to me.

Its not something we were born of to do, there ARE other ways.
But that requires thinking...not sure the majority of americans are up for that...I do certainly agree though what we have now is not the only way.

Nah, I was inspired into a better idea from a dream.
I had a dream last night and I was chit chatting with Jonathan Swift, the author who wrote A modest proposal. It was a really strange dream but Jonathan Swift wrote me a proposal in our modern context. I think it was an excellent proposal that he made to me and Mr. Swift is a very intelligent man for thinking of this proposal for me.
Here it is:
I, Jonathan Swift, Author of A Modest Proposal: For Preventing the Children of Poor People in Ireland from Being a Burden to Their Parents or Country, and for Making Them Beneficial to the Public, have another proposal to make to the Gracious, Responsible, and the Hardworking people of the United States of America.
First, I, Jonathan Swift need to state what I am proposing for America. As I proposed for the children of poor people in Ireland, which you call ghetto or white trash these days, I have a proposal for not only the children of the poor in America but for all children from becoming a burden on their hard working parents.
Second I need to state the issues of what you say is plaguing America:
1. Drugs
2. Crime
3. Selfishness
4. Irresponsibility
5. Laziness
6. Whininess
7. Backtalking from children
8. Rudeness
With my proposal you as an American Society can solve all of these problems and bring dignity, respect, honor, and decency to your society like you wish.
My proposal is the one I proposed for the children of Ireland. I say we should we should have folks from the ghetto, the folks from trailer parks, and children who are malcontents no matter what class they're from be allowed to become breeders for a new delicious kind of food. The parents can get in on this and become breeders as well.
The breeders will be able to sell their offspring for a certainly reasonable price which the American Free Market will set. This kind of delicacy can be made into all kinds of different recipes prepared for consumption by the folks who visit the different fast food establishments like McDonalds or restaurants for folks with finer and more refined tastes.
The breeders will be allowed to either breed by the hour or they can get paid through how many children they sell. In fact, the higher the quality the higher the price and profit the parent will be able to make on the sale of their respective offspring. The breeders will get a raise from time to time like any other career that they can choose.
Chefs and cooks will have to create different recipes for the American people because of the variety of tastes the American people have. The Chefs and cooks will never be wanting of work because they will be assured employment for life.
Neither will meat packaging industry. The people there from the top execs to the person who actually prepares the meat will always have a job because the sale of children human means will be the best tasting dish the American People have tasted.
In fact, neither will the meat inspectors. We will need to have meat inspectors to make sure this fine dish is fit for consumption by the American people so there are no diseases or infections like salmonella poisoning
The parents in the ghetto will benefit from this as the well as the children that are bred from them. Here is how:
1. The parents will learn to be more responsible for their young so they can cash in on this. They need to make their children and keep their children in fine, fit, and grade A condition.
2. They will not shoulder their loads on the backs of the American people no more through their welfare checks.
3. The parents will be able to obtain meaningful employment
4. The parents will slowly figure out how to manage their money correctly so they can become wealthier.
5. Drugs and Crime will eventually fade away, they can rebuild their communities, and the drug dealers will become a thing of the past, and hope will finally come to the folks of the ghettos.
6. In fact, ex drug dealers can cash in on this and keep their rims and what they call their "bling-bling. They can continue to roll in the "paper" as they call it and they could make 10 times as much as when they sold drugs.
All of this in turn will enable the people of the ghetto to be more responsible.
We can also make the irresponsible children of this country no matter what social or class status they're from more responsible, less selfish, less lazy, less whining, and all of the other things parents complain about these days about their disrespectful, rude, and bratty children.
These children who will eventually become teens can become breeders as well. They will learn to be more responsible, manage their money better, satisfy all of the sexual desires that they want while satisfying their parent’s reasonable demands of being responsible and eventually becoming responsible adults. With this method we can finally get a handle and control on the spread of STDs.
After Jonathan Swift told me all of this, he said he would tell me more and elaborate more, but he had other matters to attend to.

Your Analiseing life to much, then that of enjoying it., whats the point of living, or that of teaching our children, if we don't enjoy it, or believe in that of who we are.

I sort of realized that soon after posting....I just went camping had an adventure ran into some cops so I've been a little out of it, but then I clicked and saw you are the one who posted this thread and was thinking,'what the hell, of course they are being sarcastic with that post...then left before I could delete/edit it.

What I think isn't fair is the way some people fake disability and get that, food stamps, medicaid, etc. I know somebody who does that. He works sometimes under the table. I remember they used to do drop in visits on people who got those things. I wonder if it's time to bring that back.
It certainly wouldn't help people who are legitimately on disability....I'd constantly be nervous if I knew some government official could drop my my house and get into my personal business whenever they feel like it. That would just make me feel like I'm getting treated like a criminal or something stupid could happen like I am doing dishes in my house so they decide that means I should be working. As is they already review your case after a couple years to make sure you should still be on disability.... mandatory surprise visits probably aren't the best thing and it would probably cost more tax dollars.
Also though I don't know this individual or how you know that they are for sure faking, but I think there are a lot less fakes than people assume....its not exactly easy going through all the paper work and legal crap and waiting over a year to get on disability and its not much money especially if its SSI rather than SSDI seems like there are easier ways to scam things to bring in more cash that scammers would be more likely to go after...not to say fakes don't exist but their reasoning certainly makes no sense to me. So would surprise visits really be worth the tax dollars and potential distress of disabled people having to endure them? People on disability should still have the right to privacy in their own home they didn't commit a crime by being disabled.
I know for sure he's faking because 1. he told me and 2. he hauls scrap metal, works construction for cash under the table sometimes and 3. cuts my yard cheap sometimes. He also sells his pain pills that the dr gives him for his "back injury" that put him on disability.

If you are upset about this person, why are you assisting him with cash?
Also, I think you should report him immediately for fraud. If he is doing physical work while collecting disability, he will be kicked out of the program and prosecuted. This type of fraud is one of the few areas where the government process is fairly efficient. Reporting would be an excellent way for you to contribute to the reduction of benefits fraud.

Yeah, it is pretty tough to make me angry, but anyone who reinforces this type of negative stereotype makes it a whole lot easier, and I feel that prison is just the type of free ride they deserve.

I don't really know how somebody could lie and get on disability, I thought it was pretty hard to get on for even legitimate reasons. I don't think working under the table is the worst thing in the world tho, how much money can you really make cutting grass or being a metal scraper? They don't get that much money and so a little on the side for themselves doesn't bother me. I don't really think you can stop this fraud and abuse, obviously there are more egregious cases that should be dealt with but there isn't any reason to go after poor people just surviving and putting up more barriers and regulation and more hoops to jump thru will just make it harder for those that legitimately need help to get it which defeats the whole purpose of the system. You'd probably end up spending more money policing the welfare system than you would save from the reduction in fraud and abuse.
