My upscale white fatherland also has black flight. They are people fleeing the same things we would, seeking the same for their families.
They are educated, workers, have goals, and are whiter than a lot of whites.
Their great grandparents picked cotton, got their grandparents a forth grade education, they got their children through high school, and they got their children through college.
They speak well, defend themselves, are kind and understanding, and add to any community they join.
They are the class that put forth the great civil rights leaders.
Black people in general are the greatest danger to those who act white. Their children are in danger.
They want to live next to white people, better white people. They are welcomed.
Class overcomes race, and money does not count. They are a class act, set high standards, and are admired.
In my own white upper class area, everyone is educated, has money, but status has to do with how you treat others, We have some lower class mentality with money, no one talks to them.
It is not a white old boys club that excludes everyone else, it is a common culture that admits others like themselves. I discuss books, growing flowers, with people who could buy the block, I talk to their dogs, where people who would like to know them, are shut out.
The common feature, the best of life. My goal of raising the ultimate vine ripened Creole Tomato, planting banks of floral color along the street in raised beds, and preserving the heritage Mirleton that was wiped out in Katrina, opened the door into a world of those seeking the best in life. They stop when driving by and complement my flowers.
Heritage Mirleton is a vine from Haiti, it produces a pear shaped fruit that is one big seed, which boiled and mashed, mixed with shrimp and sausage, makes a cassarole that is pure Old New Orleans. Everyone used to have a vine, they all died in the flood, Tulane University found some nearby, and I am in the second wave of people growing them to replant New Orleans.
I am a Conservative, I work to conserve the best of our culture. I will be giving away the fruit of my labor to those who would also grow and spread a good thing.
The Creole Tomato is hard to grow, most fail at it. I am developing a raised bed that is several foot deep, half organic mater, that suits the plants needs for drainage, root area, food, air circulation. It is based off of a book by The Keeper of Her Majesty's Gardens at Kew. No expense was spared to produce the ultimate Rose Garden, open to the public.
It is Old New Orleans, the best flavored of all tomatos, and demand exceeds supply. It is hard to grow, but can produce a lot of two pound tomatos. We lost the old growers, keeping the good from our past is a worthwhile effort. A four by four foot bed would feed a family. I will give away the knowhow.
Striving to maintain and improve the best of life gives me a status with people I admire.
A friend summed up his business as, "This is supposed to be fun!" People who could not grasp that concept did not last. Those who have done well by all measures, seek the good, meanings, preserving and improving, and the joys of life. They are not a race or economic class, but they recognize each other.
It is a very small group that upholds culture. They are a beacon to those who aspire to a better world.
Like the Elves in LOTR they can sail away to the Gray Havens to the west over the sea, and leave the world of men. The world of men is dying. It has chosen it's own path. That which is good and pure must survive, to be in the next world.
