You and me, brother. I suspect that many of the libertarians who look forward to such a thing wouldn't either.

I've long thought that too many people are insufficiently careful about what they wish for.

Flaming liberal here.
While I personally think there are way too many people on death row today, I also think there are some crimes that are just too terrible that there is no other fitting punishment.

I agree with you to an extent.

We had this skinhead here who was on trial for something (probably murder, I forget) who managed to take a gun off a bailiff and killed a few people in open court, including his defense attorney.

There's no question that this guy is a murderer. I mean if the judge at your own trial saw you do it in the courtroom, i dunno how you're gonna plead innocent. Plus the video surveillance from multiple angles, testimony of 12 jurors, various bailiffs, etc.

He is human filth and does not deserve to draw breath.

My bleeding heart liberal objection, however, is that we don't deserve to have to bloody our hands with his execution. I'm sure there are plenty of people who are fine with it, but we're talking about state sponsored murder here, which means that the whole state is a party to it.

Also, in almost all death penalty cases, there are people who care about the accused who are blameless. Most often siblings, children, or parents, who don't deserve to lose their worthless piece of crap person that they care about for some stupid reason they can't shake.

For those two reasons alone, I don't think the death penalty is worth it.

When you look at the financial aspects of prosecuting a death penalty case, and the real costs of execution in a 1st world nation, it's clearly not worth it.

Shot his own defense attorney? What a simpleton.

Yeah took his attorney hostage iirc. May have been a public defender. I don't recall. Anyway his hostage idea certainly didn't pan out.

We might have executed this guy already. I don't know. I don't waste much time on skinheads.

I remember one time, I drove into a grocery store parking lot and pulled into an available space. And it turned out that the guy in the enormous truck who didn't have his blinker on or anything felt like he had deserved the spot. honked, yelled some angry stuff, called me some names, drove to some other spot.

I saw him get out of his truck. Skinhead, tattooed, piercings, and about 1/3rd my size. I could have broken him in half. I mean, he doesn't know that i'm a pacifist who's never been in a real fight. I'm really just a big teddybear but somehow i haven't been any kind of victim since about the 4th grade. Something about being tall and broad shouldered.

He took one look at me and averted his eyes like a wolf trying to be subservient to his alpha.

He carefully avoided me, and avoided being seen by me, in the grocery store too.

Good times. It's nice to be reminded that most people who act tough are cowards.
