To me everyone that serves honorably is a hero.

Well, he graduated at the bottom of his class in the naval academy.

He got shot down, crashed in swamp, captured.

When the VC figured out that he was an admiral's son, they tried to give him back. repeatedly.

none of the above is very heroic.

That he made the VC let a bunch of other guys go before he would leave their prison camp was kinda heroic.

Then later in life he married a rich broad and used her money to run for office essentially as a carpetbagger in arizona.

He said some admirable stuff but for a guy who was a POW he sure loves war.

He was up to his eyeballs in the savings & loan scandal in the 90's. He admits that. Called it his greatest sin. I know people who's lives were turned up-side-down by that.

Two words: Sarah Palin. I blame him.

He always seems to be ready to blow up some other country over whatever annoyed him regardless of whether we would gain anything by doing it. Like his repeated calls to bomb iran.

Oh, did you know that he went to syria to hang out with the "moderates" fighting the assad regime - moderates who later founded something called Isis? True story.

How can anybody take what Trump said about McCain seriously? How can they?

It's a cat fight between McCain and Trump based on McCain's criticism of Trump's stand on illegal immigration.

In the same breath Trump says "I prefer people who don't get captured", and "only I can take care of vets".

In other words "anyone who puts themselves in harm's way in the service of America and becomes a casualty is a contemptible idiot- AND- I am the best qualified candidate to take care of America's contemptible idiots who were dumb enough to put themselves in harm's way for America!".

He somehow managed to cram about a dozen different forms of stupidity into the same utterance (including contradictory forms of stupidity)!

Amazing!

even more amazing is that he is leading the GOP field in the latest polls. or perhaps "appalling" would be a better word.

That's what happens when you have a show on network television.

So McCain is a war hero and free of criticism because he was a POW for 5 years? How can they say anything about Bowe Berghdahl then?

He running for president again?

I have this pet peeve about people running for president over and over even after they lost an election. The public has spoken. Move on.

No, I think he means voting him out of the Senate.

Yes, McCain is running for reelection here and I am ready to vote 'anybody but McCain' in the primary or general. There are a lot of people that hate McCain in this state and if he gets nominated again he could lose to the Democratic challenger who this cycle is Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick but he just has to worry about getting out of the primary right now.

if I lived in AZ my fear would be that he would be replaced with a farther-right-wingnut.

Why do they hate him so much? Not tough enough on immigration issues?
