Air power has never won a war. Look for the Russians to send in ground forces.

I very much doubt Russia sends any amount of ground forces into Syria. Russia can bring the air power and armory with the Syrian Arab Army, Hezbollah, Kurds, and Iranians doing the leg work. Problem being is that Turkey and the Arab Gulf countries are the main source of this Islamist insurgency, they want Assad gone more than they want ISIS gone. Turkey obviously has no intentions of peaceful relations with the Kurds. I think the US should think really carefully about who our allies are and what is in OUR best interest, Thomas Jefferson warned us about entangling alliances. Turkey and Saudi Arabia are not our friends, Israel isn't our friend either since Israel is only out for themselves. These aren't equal relationship, these aren't real allies, we should do their dirty work for them. Why are the Iranians so much worse than Saudi Arabia?

The US just needs to stay the hell away.

There are some Russian ground forces. Most are local defense of the air base.

There seems to be two fights, one against ISIS cells in Syrian controlled areas, pin point air followed with ground assault, and an air war against the Turkey to Iran supply line.

This is also the route ISIS uses to ship out several million a day in oil. Tanker trucks make good targets. Cut off their income, food and ammo supply, new fighters, and water supply.

Then ground fighters backed by air can reach from Syrian controlled to Kurd controlled areas. Eastern Syria is wide open spaces with no place to hide.
