I guess I needed some more context.
Quote:
In August, the 1968 Democratic National Convention was held in Chicago. Intended to showcase Daley's achievements to national Democrats and the news media, the proceedings during the convention instead garnered notoriety for the mayor and city, descending into verbal outbursts on the part of politicians, and a circus for the media. With the nation divided by the Vietnam War and with the assassinations of King and Robert F. Kennedy earlier that year serving as backdrop, the city became a battleground for anti-Vietnam war protesters who vowed to shut down the convention. In some cases, confrontations between protesters and police turned violent, with images of this violence broadcast on national television. Later, anti-war activists Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, and three other members of the "Chicago Seven" were convicted of crossing state lines with the intent of inciting a riot as a result of these confrontations, though the convictions were overturned on appeal. At the convention itself, Sen. Abraham A. Ribicoff (D-Conn.), went off-script during his speech nominating George McGovern, saying, "And with George McGovern as President of the United States, we wouldn't have to have Gestapo tactics in the streets of Chicago. And with George McGovern as president, we wouldn't have to have a National guard." Ribicoff, with his voice shaking, then said: "How hard it is to speak the truth, when we know the problems that are facing this nation", for which some in the crowd booed Ribicoff. Ribicoff also tried to introduce a motion to shut down the convention and move it to another city. Many conventioneers applauded Ribicoff's remarks but an indignant Mayor Daley tried to shout down the speaker. As television cameras focused on Daley, lip-readers later said they observed him shouting, "f**k you, you Jew son of a b***h, you lousy Motherf***er go home."[22][23] Defenders of the mayor later stated that he was calling Ribicoff a faker,[24][25] a charge denied by Daley and refuted by Mike Royko's reporting.[26] A federal commission, led by local attorney, party activist Dan Walker, investigated the events surrounding the convention and described them as a "police riot". Daley defended his police force with the following statement, which was also a slip of the tongue: "The confrontation was not caused by the police. The confrontation was caused by those who charged the police. Gentlemen, let's get this thing straight, once and for all. The policeman is not here to create disorder. The policeman is here to preserve disorder."[27]

Well... the policeman is supposed to be there to preserve order.

Aww you flatter me

Remember kids: it was liberals' fault that Republicans had no solutions on healthcare, it was liberals' fault that Trump ignored medical professionals warning about covid, and it's definitely liberals' fault that the last two Republican presidents have made this country an international laughingstock.

Who's trying to tear the nation down? Just because people think things should be different hardly means they want to destroy America.
If anything perhaps the police/military industrial complex. Did you know U.S police get training for Isreali military? Apparently there are even reports that some of the 'training' could be deigned to escalate situations rather than de-escalate them.
Scary stuff, because that means the tear gas and the rubber bullets aren't really a reaction to protests getting out of hand, its designed to create more stress and anger and create chaos so people are more likely to get confrontational. So like they may intentionally be trying to make the protests escalate into violence...so they can then respond with more brutality. And considering the err international concern about Israel and human rights violations perhaps its not a good thing for our police here to be getting training from their military.
Don't take my word for it though...look it up, BBC and Aljazeera English have some info in regards.
Interesting theory.
I cann't see it being valid, at this time.

Dear MAGA,
Have you made America great again yet?
Your lack of an answer shows that (1) you are too honest to lie, and (2) you are too embarrassed to tell the truth.
In either case, when are you going to start?

The answer so far appears to be, "No! Of course not! But it's the liberals' fault!!" ...
Partisanship is well entrenched, in America, on both sides.
This is one of the 3 main social problems tearing American society apart, imo.

It's enlightening that you would wait until external events (and orchestrated internal events) have reversed what had occurred in the previous 3 years before asking...How about asking the same question, using December last year as the point in time to which you are referring? Of course, using selective baselines to suit a given narative, some could claim that at least Obama finally managed to bring about the "hope and change" he had promised - in the 2016 electoral college results.Quote:
Because he stinks.
When Obama came to power, I was expecting a huge improvement in the quality of life for the coloured community.
Yes, I superficially know why ObamaCare had problems as a result of Republican interference, but in terms of reforms improving the situation for coloured citizens generally, I haven't seen anything substantial.
Admittedly, I don't know that much in this area.

I have found it enlightening that (as far as I have seen) the majority of the protests (and rioting) are occurring in Democrat controlled states/cities, indicating that it is these areas, and not Republican ones, where the racism must have been occurring. No sane person would destroy their community like that without a reason...
My media sources have pointed this out, also.
Interesting.

This. Also, this oxygen thief deployed military forces against Americans who were peacefully exercising their first amendment rights.
I used to wonder if all the people in North Korea were just pretending to worship their Glorious Leader to save their hides. Now, after observing my fellow countrymen, I know that some people really are that deep into the cult that they will worship whomever pats them on the head and gives them an enemy to look down on.
I'm scared. I'm also thankful I'm no longer in the military where I'd have to take orders from this potato.

Were the protesters at Lafayette Square throwing bricks and water bottles at the president?

So wait...I cannot say you are being ignorant on a particular issue, but you can say this entire generation of democrat voters are just dumb across the board and that's ok? interesting, indeed.

Cite something other than a far-right Facebook page or YouTube channel.
They were throwing them at secrete service, who’d be failing their job if the president was ever in range of such attacks.
President obama came to visit my town so security pushed us all away from places he’d go. I got stopped by police on way to a paintball game.
The president of the United States as well as any leader gets a security bible around them. The protesters refused the command to move and so were moved. If the queen of England wanted to go for a drive or walk you bet dollar on dollar her security would gsss and spray protesters to clear a path. This happens for every single president of the USA.
Blocking roads isn’t legal protesting. People are not allowed to be in the roads or block them. Disobeying laws isn’t law-abiding.
So are you saying that the Secret service would or should let Obama walk through a angry tea party protest?
Should angry protesters dictate where the president or any American citizens can go? If so why is it ok for them to protest for freedoms from abuse while abusing other people’s freedoms?
The day we let angry mobs dictate where our president can’t and can’t go is the day we lost law and order.
If police tell you that you are illegally gathering and to move or be made to move. What would you do?

Omfg you are so totally biased, it’s sad
You completely ignore the post above which I took and hanged republicans to democrats to make a point. So it’s fine by you to say it about republicans but not democrats.
Which ding was the point was trying to make so thank you for proving it.
You should ask yourself why it’s ok to say about republicans but not democrats. I miss the old sweetleaf. who was kind to everyone.
Oh and FYI I’d never tell someone even those I hate their ignorant. I’d still help my enemy too. I’ve never done anything to you other then vote for trump and for that you’ve completely turned against me. People here who use to me considered my friends have been so mean to me since 2016. Nit even showing compassion when my grandma died or when I’m hurting. You know what pretty sure fnord hates me but even he shows me compassion sometimes especially when my Gma died. And I’d show compassion to him if he gets hurt. As much as I don’t like him he’s a human being and fellow aspie.
He was the last person I’d expected compassion from while the ones who preach how compassionate they are and how kind they are turned out to be the meanest.
It’s like the parents who abandoned their kids when they find out they vote for the other party or they gay. Non of that s**t should matter. But it taught me who my real friends are.
Kk ,Mag and isa don’t agree with me politically But it didn’t stop them from being friendly to me.
I’d never call someone ignorant or stupid for believing differently then me.
Though there’s a long held Stereotype that anyone not voting democrat is stupid country folk. Stereotypes are horrible as every aspie should know from experience
