It’s not solely about hiring practices but society as a whole, including things I already mentioned as well as stuff like beliefs and values. Given the pervasive sexism female candidates (and female members of WP) experience, it’s clear that we still have a ways to go.

Agreed

Thank you for making my point. None of that is actually true. This sort of revisionist history does little to advance any sort of useful end.

Yes, yes, thank you--keep doing that! Please dismiss anyone who tries to talk about male privilege without addressing anything they actually said! Especially if a woman tries to make this argument, the best thing you can do to convince others you are right is to just make blanket dismissals of anything that person says. Just like all who oppose feminism and their talk of "male privilege", your position will certainly be vindicated by history! Eventually! In a few years probably! Don't quote me on that!

After all, when has (stifled laughter) wh-when has (snort) when has acknowledging sexism (pffff) or privilege (hahaha!) ever benefitted anyone? Hahahaha! C-Can you imagine (Hahahahaha!) how much (pffff) WORSE the world would be if anyone ever listened to anyone who suggested privilege was a serious problem?

The West really went down the tubes once those women started challenging the status quo, and voting, and becoming politically active... How I long for the sexual equality of 1900 or even just 1960--before everything became "sexism" this and "privilege" that....

The term gish gallop exists for a reason. There's a certain irony to you complaining that I'm being dismissive of your dismissiveness of the typical male experience.

There is no such thing as a typical male experience. If that's the basis behind your arguments, then you have lost.

I was not familiar with the phrase "gish gallop". I know full well I can be long-winded, but I was not making some attempt to muddle the conversation or to be manipulative by doing so. It can be difficult to know where to stop or begin when I see someone try to downplay the role of sexism in society. The reality of sexism has been so obvious to me for so long, it's hard to know what parts of the mountain of evidence someone doesn't believe.

I admit it wasn't ideal that I led off my long screed dismissing your argument about the gender pay gap without giving evidence, so here you go:

Women make less than men across 20 professional categories, even those usually dominated by women. The discrepancy is not just the result of outliers among the rich and ultra-rich.

The median gender wage gap has remained mostly unchanged for the last 20 years, despite the claims of countless anti-feminists that women have gained advantage over men in recent years.

The gender wage gap exists across multiple categories, including race and level of education.

Maybe a lot of men will vote for Kamala because they think she's sexy. Let's face it, Harris is much more attractive than Trump. I'd rather see a beautiful woman in the Whitehouse than an old blob.

On an indirect tangent to that - if she does win I'll look forward to four years of Maya Rudolph roasting her.
