Or a grave.

World peace is only 7.5 billion bullets away. It's impractical, not impossible.

I think I have figured out Trump's pattern. If he hears a bizarre conspiracy theory, he says something inflammatory or takes some ill-conceived action. Then, the voices of reason find a way to prevail, a little, and the policy gets rolled back or spun into something more palatable. Rinse and repeat.

Our best bet for keeping the world in some kind of manageable shape is to evict the inexperienced ideologues from the White House.

Edit: THIS JUST IN The British Get It. Over one million have signed a petition to cancel Trump's state visit, anticipating that he will embarrass their queen.

Love him or hate him, you have to admit that they have a point.

Funny considering the petitions they've made over the years to get rid of the queen.

This is The Celebrity Apprentice Presidency Edition

The boss springs a bizarre challenge on all the contestants, who then scramble to do a good job at it. I only saw one or two episodes of the show, but that's the basic format, right? There will be chicken suits.

The Queen is married to Prince Philip. Trump is minor league compared to him in terms of 'gaffes' (many of which are actually quite amusing).

The petition will come to nothing. It's just another outlet for virtue-signalling luvvies to pat themselves on the back.

Good point. The idea of royalty is about the most racist thing ever. The royals themselves may or may not have any shame, but other people will have it for them.

Ain't that the truth; the latest one is apparently you're not allowed to use Uber if you're liberal, you have to use Lyft instead...

*adds Uber users to the list of people it's acceptable to punch*

^Try to keep up. People shouldn't punch people except punching back, imo, but the news reports suggest that Uber drivers have been high on the list for some time.

I think this belongs here, rather than in the dedicated thread. Trump's Muslim Ban is the beginning of a constitutional crisis, maybe. Courts have ordered ICE to release the number of people held, and ICE has refused to talk to lawyers who have volunteered to represent the people who are detained.

Courts have held that once on American soil, habeas corpus applies. It's why we have Gitmo. The executive branch appears to have decided to defy court orders.

In the face of near-universal domestic and international condemnation, Trump calls the policy a huge success, and insists that it was implemented exactly like they planned.

Haven't you heard? Uber decided not to surge it's prices in NYC so people could get home from the airport during a taxi strike, so now they're irredeemable fascists that every good person is purging from their smartphone...

This Uber thing. You'll find more evidence of people going full Mel Gibson in Ubers than you will find leftists stalking them. If there is a picket line and they cross it, that's another matter. Everyone knows those rules.

So do y'all think the media is reporting more on haters lately, or has Trump brought them out of the woodwork?

Our society was pretty coarse already. How will Trump affect that, and is there any way it can turn out well?
