I think we really do have the right to bear arms, especially since that we would be able to protect ourselves from tyranny and dangerous people. If the government were to control all the weapons, I would be very afraid.

I personally think the difference between organized crime and tyrannical government is mostly imaginary - the difference being whether the people accept their dominion as justified or not. They're functionally the same thing, an entity which exists to further its own forceful power by means of extortion (taxes) and elimination of all competition. But that's a discussion for another thread.

i wouldn't say it is wrong to carry weaponry, but it is wrong to use it to gain power over people

 i don't think it is right for people to bare fireams. Due to the fact that dozons of people are injured or killed every day due to the use of firearms. And i don't think that it is right for owners of firearms dealers to sell firearms to possible killers. :x

There's nothing wrong with having weapons as long as they are not used to hurt people. I can not stand killing anything although I admit it might be necessary under some circumstances. Unfortunately people do not seem to be able to judge properly when killing is or is not necessary. And guns frequently give people a sense of power that can be dangerous and lead them into situations they would ordinarily avoid.
Beyond that, accidents with guns are very frequent. Many people are not careful with lethal weapons.

I would be perfectly happy with this,
if there were a way to keep them
out of the hands of criminals, like
the men in blue.

As someone else would say, which I think they might agree with this view, not actually sure though, if they do, they would say something like this: "People are too stupid to be allowed to have guns". And I see a very good point with that statement.

As somebody who might have trouble interpreting other people's intent I wouldn't trust myself with a gun as the damage from a mistake can be too horrible. But if I were confronted with a shooter gone wild I would appreciate one.

It certainly makes it too easy for people to do something drastic when they lose their temper. It wouldn't be quite as dangerous as having a small nuclear device on one's person, but I'd have grave reservations about unrestricted access to guns.

Wrong to own them, no.

Wrong to use them to inflict violence on others, yes.

It's not rocket science.
