i forgot to explain why i don't understand the categories. (i know this is random and nobody really cares, but i'm obsessing about it.)

on the surface of things, i guess i'm agnostic. (at least today, i am.) but i also am googly-eyed over nativity scenes, images of Virgin Mary, pietas, St. Francis, etc.

i don't pray to those things, though. but i think they're beautiful and fascinating.

so i'm a Catholic atheist/agnostic, i guess. i also like taqsim, the improvisational part of oud music, valued as a form of prayer.

so i'm a Muslim-Catholic atheist/agnostic.

You can be agnostic or athiest and still think of religion as a beautiful thing. I would advise, however, if you are agnostic or athiest with that view, you find a religion that appeals to your belief. Raja Yoga, for example, for Hindus, brings considerable inner peace. Religions also provide some sort of network for you to share your beliefs and be with like-minded people. Even if you're like me, and decide on a religion that has, literally, no services or other practitioners in your area, there are various online networking sources that you can go to.

I am, for example, completely and utterly Taoist in pretty much everything I do (I have been all of my life), but I think of Christianity as a beautiful religion, when it's not twisted for personal gain. I think of most religions like that, in fact.

It depends on my mood, sometimes I feel Christian, some other times I fel Jew, Muslim, Jedi and Buddist, and other times I feel like a solipsist.

Not necessarily. There are forums for nearly every belief, and there are many wise people on these sites that could enlighten you on paths you had not thought to look down before.

I'm pretty much in the school now of 'it is whatever it is'. I still have a mixture of Catholic/Gnostic/Buddhist trains of thought but I'm in a short spell where I really haven't been focused on things as much as I used to (then again it could be a reading material issue, which I already have another good book lined up after this one).

I tend to believe that if there is a God, the dry and mundane of our world, the kinds of problems we have, the specific ways that it tends to grind us down, the frailties of the human condition - all very deliberate and well coordinated based on the laws that we're built from. My tendency would be to think that such a God who prefers to be anonymous and hide his signature away from broader public view or what people can latch onto; doubtful that we're all going to hell in a handbasket, particularly when you look at the flimy schematics of freewill and the sharp intellectual limitations so many people almost have as a rule on one particular region of thought or another.

Well, there also is the inner peace and wisdom arguments to consider. Buddhist monks, for example, learned that Raja Yoga (a Hindu path to enlightenment) provides extraordinary inner peace and calm. Additionally, religions are extraordinarily rich in wisdom. Moreso in their original form than in the form they're practiced in today, but you can still learn much from them.

The question posed by this thread is "What religion are you?" It's an intriguing question. I never considered myself a religion before but if anybody is interested in worshiping me I'll have to consider it. At first glance, looking at current religious practices all those prayers will have to be looked into and might require a rather large staff. But then again, none of them are answered so that might not be necessary unless I really want to compete. I have better things to do.

I voted agnostic/atheist. I'm not sure whether there is a higher being. I am a philosophical Idealist and that's pretty much how I relate to religion, too. As in, whatever spiritual reality may or may not exist, is always connected to the minds of human beings experiencing it.

for me god basically translates as another word for death, i could write about my personal beliefs all day so ill keep it as short as possible.. the universe came from nothing and will return to nothing, everything we know is destined to end all things bow to death, without death life could not exist, death defines life and existence its self.. death is the alpha and the omega. we can only truly embrace life by embracing death and only by doing so shall we learn our true place in this world.

All of life's answers are hidden within death, you just need to find them.

Other

Between Non denominational Christian and Agnostic. I believe in Demons, Angels, ghosts, and a God, and nothing you say will change my mind. (Not that I mind a good intellectual disscussion which lack idiotic rudenss, when it's about other religions.) I want to be a Christ follower. I just don't think group popularity, or sore buns matters. If it did, we are supposedly supposed to have one building in the world to go to. Not 1billion+ churches. I could make a blog why I don't go to Church anymore. :?

(XD My father actualy falls asleep and snores during church. Must be terribly embarasing for my sister. rofl. She tells me that she has to pound the seat with her fist to wake him. Why the hell does he go? He's not a Christian. :? )
