Forgive me, but... what's an Accipitriform?

-Bill, otherwise known as Kraichgauer

The Accipitriformes is an order that has been proposed to include most of the diurnal birds of prey: hawks, eagles, vultures, and many others, about 225 species in all [wikipedia]
It is basically all the raptors except the Falcons which turn out to be meat-eating parrots 8O

I did not know falcons were meat eating parrots.
Thank you for the definition.

Thats interesting.

I knew that owls had been severed from the bird of prey family into their own group, and that new world vultures (turkey, black headed, and both Andean and California condors) had been shown to have evolved from wading birds like herons and storks and have no kinship to the Old World vultures which remain in the same family as raptors.

But I didnt know that falcons had also been pried loose and reassigned to -of all things-the parrot family.

I was being a bit flip they have not been moved to the parrots just next to them with the caracaras.

Look at the size of that green mass of land. It's the most compelling explanation why nobody at the UN should have a veto power.

The vote is most likely going to take place in the Security Council. That is was the choice of the Palestinians. As a result only those on the council can vote and it is not a certainty that they have the numbers to even force a veto. If they went through the General Assembly they would annoy less people and still accomplish most of what they want and there would be no possibility of a veto.

I'm amused that ruveyn considers the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) as third world nations.

Until this year the UN basically did too (they were listed in the developing category along with Liberia et al. Now (excluding Russia) they are classified as newly industrialized countries.

I've tended to see them as "2nd World" though that term was previously reserved for countries with centrally-planned economies

I said -most- of the countries favoring the Palestinian cause were bottom of the barrel third world countries. Look at the map of Africa and South America. Most of the nations on these continents are techno-primitive third world crap. And they each have one vote in the General Assembly.

The U.S. should get out of the UN and send to UN packing to other shores.

The U.N. is a corrupt third world kaffee klatch. It is an organization that gives the Lesser Peoples of the world the illusion that they are worth something.

It all started after I got out of school and started to pay attention to facts.

For "all the good, faithful, religious Americans who believe the truth is horse hockey" the essay "The Paranoid Style in American Politics" by Richard Hofstadter cites Norman Cohn's descriptions of paranoids as: "The megalomaniac view of oneself as the Elect, wholly good, abominably persecuted, yet assured of ultimate triumph."

As if this is not already bad enough, most "conservative" citizens of the U.S.A. now believe that publishers of dictionaries are in a vast conspiracy to sap the vocabulary of the American language from the Patriot's truly endangered brain. They refused to learn any public facts, as they embrace only private facts that massages their intense, but unctuous, oleaginous, and totally saponaceous, goose-stepping mass ego.

I suggest you Google the "Oil For Food Scandal."
