The rally is a good thing. It's all about marketing. The safer it appears to be to express non-faith, the more people will express it.

Atheist is used as an insult in America and many other places so I would say it is a good thing as well. Eventually I hope religion is not the only way one can be a conscientious objector or other exclusive rights those who believe in invisible elves get, rather unfairly

And the more people that express faith the more people will choose to follow one

You lack the belief in God's existence. Your belief is that God doesn't exist.

Quote:
Atheists do not believe gods exist.

Correct, but that doesn't mean that atheists have non-position regarding God. Their belief that God doesn't exists is precisely their belief, and many will deny that.

Quote:
This is literally the definition of the word.

Sure, and many atheists will say that it means they have no position regarding God, but that isn't true.

If you hold that atheism is a lack of belief, meaning that the belief in the nonexistence of God doesn't count as a belief, then you are a baby.

Quote:
This is literally the definition of the word.

I'm not arguing the definition, I'm arguing how some atheists interpret it.

I'm arguing that people can't say they have a non-belief/non-position. Atheism is defined, in many instances, as having a lack of belief. Many atheists will go out on a limb and say they don't have a belief at all. In the case of that definition, grown-ups cannot be an atheist, because they don't have a non-belief. It's absurd to think someone can say "I don't believe in God and that is my non-belief."

Quote:
unbelief in God or deities

And atheists will go out on a limb and say that it also presumes that belief in the nonexistence of God isn't a belief in itself.

Quote:
lack of belief

Lack of belief is what a baby has.

Quote:
If you fail to comprehend what that means, that is not anyone’s fault but your own. But defining Atheism otherwise or claiming it is something different than that is incorrect.

When atheists claim that atheism signifies they have a non-belief/non-position regarding the existence of God, they are wrong. They do have one, even though it's not a belief for existence, it's in the nonexistence.

I KNOW MORE ABOUT ATHEISM THAN YOU ATHEISTS SO SHUT UP ALL OF YOU NOW YOU ALL BELIEVE IN NOT BELIEVING IN GOD AND MY UNREASON GETS TO SIT SIDE BY SIDE WITH YOUR REASON OK GUYS

I'm not making it out to be that way, I'm questioning why some atheists consider their selves to have a total non-position on the question of God's existence, and why they think that means they don't believe in the non-existence of God.

It never ceases to amaze me that Christians feel they can tell us, rather arrogantly, what it is that our beliefs are, but if the situation were reversed, they cry bigotry and "ignorance". The world would be a much better place without this supernaturally induced mass hypocrisy

Well if you think you have a non-position regarding the existence of God, then that strike me as irrational thought. And if you continue to defend it, you're no different than someone that's religious.

You atheists and theists can be two peas in the same pod.

Anything else to add to this useful little sermon of yours or are you done spewing nonsense?

Yeah, you should ditch the irrational thought. 8)

If you really do believe in your non-position.

I recommend you follow your own advice. Or better yet, actually learn a thing or two about something before deciding to tell people actually involved in it what they "really" believe. Your entire argument is basically pigeon holing atheism, I have seen nothing rational from you
