Pregnant is inherently good?

Hell no. But billions of women seem to think so.

I wonder who voted for the "mission accomplished" option......

i don't think most of them care too much about pregnancy itself. i think it is just a stopping point along the way and the goal is a child.

nothing wrong with being moved. you had a terrible experience and it is good that people can connect with you and support you.

That's not what my mama said! :P

Also, plenty of current and former preggers have told me that pregnancy is something they very much enjoyed. I've also ready countless anecdotes and even stats suggesting that most preggers enjoy that stage a great deal. They get treated like a queen and are the center of attention amongst their family and friends. Why is there all this talk about post-partum depression but no talk of it during pregnancy?

i haven't seen any of that :? . they find the good in it usually (carrying new life, excitement for the future, etc), but a lot of it has big downsides. i sense that you're looking to put a negative spin on women enjoying pregnancy, but i don't even see enjoyment to that degree in my circle of friends.

also, this has nothing to do with the topic.

I've know several.

They were of the opinion that it "doesn't matter" if a woman hits a man because woman can't do "real" damage against males.

Thankfully, I've noticed this attitude seems to be changing with some of the younger guys.

I'm thankful for that as well. Chivalry is outmoded. I view chivalrous men of the 21st century as wimps.

My issues with feminism are:

1) It's vengeful. Even though some feminists are pacifists and a lot of them are against the death penalty and stuff, there's an undeniable under-belly of anger in the movement towards men, and an over-inflated sense of perceived victimhood. I dislike how they characterize and define women as a victim class. Though perhaps if I were female and had a lot of creepy unwanted attention from males and possibly other females maybe I'd be a little bit bitter and vengeful myself? It just annoys me how *some* self-identified feminists act like men's issues are almost trivial in comparison to their own.

2) I actually think gender roles in moderation are a good thing. I think encouraging men and women to act exactly the same on average could only be done via force. Society probably exaggerates gender roles and certainly things like wearing pink are probably subjective but I disagree that gender roles are purely social constructs, I see them as being genetically rooted and amplified by society but not actually an invention of society. Gender roles should be less rigid to account for individuality yes but overall I dislike the militarization of women feminism promotes.

3) Postmodernism and political correctness annoy me greatly and most *self-described* feminists from my experience are pomo and PC.

That s**t you don't like about feminism? How it makes you angry? How it hurts your feelings? Imagine experiencing that all day, every day, the messages encoded in just about everything around you. Also, this:

And it's not about forcing people to be the same. Jeezy McCreezy.

Here's the worst thing about all this - most of the men who get abused in relationships are probably really nice guys. That makes me sick when I merely think about it.

As long as individual people aren't forced into gender roles that they personally do not want to fulfill, then I don't see what's wrong with moderated gender roles that are ultimately voluntary.

The kind of feminism that you're talking about is very much what they call "2nd wave" feminism/"women's lib". For the most part I had thought that this kind of butthurt, vengeful feminism had all but died out.............But the internet seems to be facilitating its revival through the blogosphere. But its legacy is patently obvious among American women born after the 1970s. Might I add: Postmodernism had deeply entrenched itself among the modern and in particular among the academic left.

What upsets me the most is how so many Aspie women are being recruited into this movement and this galvanizes them against Aspie men. I see feminism as divisive towards minority group by turning women in those groups against their fellow men. They have not been able to do this among homosexuals as gays & lesbians are united and indivisible. But it's depressing to see how they have achieved this among aspies and it's time for us to take a stand!

Clearly you feel guilty about being male. I however, do not.

Oh, f**k off. I don't feel guilty about being male. I feel angry about any number of socio-political injustices. That you interpret the latter as the former - dude, you got ishoos.

These are probably the types that would pick mission accomplished. As for hopper being ashamed of being male I dont know about that, I think he is trying to address the issues in media and how biased a view of male society can be.

Whats sad about how society is these days and its true. In this kind of situation the man is more likely ignored in being a victim.
