Remember when everyone on WP was saying that giving people in schools guns was a bad idea?

Wait. The good guys can kill?

Man! Who would have not thought of that?

Had this unfortunate student been run over by a car instead, would the left be calling for banning automobiles at schools?

Wait, you mean automobiles are allowed at schools?

Staff who wish to park at schools should be made to park away from the main site. Where possible, their arrivals and departures should be timed to avoid the school rush. Parents shouldn't be allowed to drive on school property (with some exceptions e.g. dropping off or picking up an injured child).

It just seems like common sense to me that something as dangerous as a car or a gun should not be allowed on school property, where there is a high concentration of children and therefore an increased risk of something going wrong.

Glocks don't have a safety switch along with some other guns. Here is an example of somebody accidentally getting shot with a Glock. Man Shot by Neighbor Unloading Gun I'm thinking guns without a safety switch separate from the trigger should be banned as guns, as they can accidentally hurt and kill people.

You do realize that the revolvers carried by police up until the 1980s or so didn't have manual safeties either, right? And that accidents are perfectly possible with guns equipped with such safeties as well? The Glock has multiple safeties, the only way to fire one is to pull the trigger, and that's exactly what this guy did. Not pulling the trigger unless you mean to shoot is about as basic as things get, and yet people still manage to do it all the time, laws and regulations aren't going to magically raise the collective IQ...

Fact-check: People with more guns tend to kill more people—with guns. The states with the highest gun ownership rates have a gun murder rate 114% higher than those with the lowest gun ownership rates. Also, gun death rates tend to be higher in states with higher rates of gun ownership. Gun death rates are generally lower in states with restrictions such as assault-weapons bans or safe-storage requirements.

Uh huh, and this from a notoriously liberal source.
