Why is prostitution illegal?
I perceive one sticky wicket in your standard:
The female sex drive may vary considerably during the monthly cycle, whereas the male sex drive may remain relatively stable.
In this case, the female will be the one who determines when and if coitus will be undertaken.
If, off the bat, you declare: "You ain't gettin' any unless I want it, Buster! This p**** ain't no entitlement!", then you may tend to discourage potential suitors. For most couples, the reality is that it probably ends up like this, anyway. De facto rather than de jure. The woman wins, but purely by stealth.
And, when menopause eventually rears its ugly head, the poor guy may be lucky to get two refreshments in six months.
Puddingmouse's standard might actually be quite practical for a Lesbian couple, particularly as their ovulatory cycles synchronize.
I expect the reason prostitution is illegal is that it is more often than not a disguised exploitation of someone who has little or no choice in the matter.
However, I know that some sex workers choose their profession willingly and for those people I think it is unjust to treat them as criminals for using their own person how they see fit.

Do you realise how annoying it is to be a woman, wanting to have sex and be faced with a an unwilling /flacid response?
If I am unwilling, as a woman, I can still oblige the partner and let him have sex with me anyway. If he is unwilling, there is no way for the couple to have sex. He can perform other sexual acts on his partner but the fact of the lack of arousal is so obvious that it ends up being off putting. Poor guy my arse.

I think that the news media gives people a distorted view of crime in general, but especially the intersection of sex work and human trafficking. It's like the deep web of sex work, though. I think that a vile person have to know someone in order to find a sex worker to exploit, especially in ways that are several serious felonies. I had someone try to sell me a piece of ivory one time. Knowing that I had no way to assess it, I withhold judgment on it's authenticity. Still, I suspect that he was committing a really evil and extremely serious type of crime. That doesn't make me reject the entire black market as exploitative, I only consider the trade in endangered species to be exploitative.
The black market has everything from old grandmothers who make the best tamales around (out of stray dogs and cats, true story) to massive grower's cooperatives, from those vicious thugs in Mexico to the vicious thugs in Afghanistan. Be careful whose product you pick up in either the black market or in sex work.
I think that the rape culture that leads to human exploitation is the real issue, but criminalizing consenting activities within or among consenting adults makes the problems of human vices so much worse. Sex work is work.

I'm on the contraceptive pill and horny nearly all the time. On the rare occasions I'm not, it's not like his dick is going to drop off if he has to wait a day or two (or even just a few hours.) I wouldn't decline sex in a rude way like that, either. And sometimes men aren't in the mood, or I've had one go and I want more but he's too tired for that. It doesn't bother me because I love him and it's not like I'll have to wait that long (like I did with my last partner.) Trust me, our sex drives are very compatible despite being of different sexes - who'd a thunk that was possible?

And menopause is a good twenty years away for me. It's worth me giving heterosexuality a go in this relationship even if things might change at some point (especially if it's one in the distant future like that.) And like I said, I wouldn't exactly kill him if he had an affair - especially when I get older.
I know you're always trying to persuade women to go totally gay for some reason (apart from the ones that sell sex, or the ones that put up with their partners buying it) but straight relationships can work, y'know. Even on a sexual level.

It's not the end of the world or even a big problem unless the guy has erectile dysfunction and it happens all the time.
I'm actually a bit creeped out that men can have sex with women when they're not willing. My boyfriend seems to be an exception to that. Once when it was obvious I wasn't going to come, he stopped of his own accord. I wasn't even unwilling and I was aroused, I just wasn't enjoying it as much as normal and he could tell. I was quite touched by that because it showed that he wasn't just interested in getting consent every time, but that my enjoyment was as important as his own.

I don't mind the term sex worker, but the term prostitute is useful because prostitution is probably the most dangerous form of sex work (other than some dodgy types of porn where the safety of the actors is compromised.) You need to make the distinction because different sex workers have different issues. Both terms have their uses and different sex workers would probably want to be called different things. Some would see themselves as sex therapists (like the ones who exclusively see disabled clients,) a lot of them like the word sex worker because it sounds less judgemental than the word prostitute (or because they do other types of sex work as well) and some call themselves prostitutes because that's what they feel describes their job most accurately.
I use the word sex worker unless I have to specifically talk about the issues surrounding prostitution (like in this thread.)

No. I thought that just meant "Oh, well. I get a break tonight."
Valentine's Day is coming up. Maybe he'll buy you a sybian.

Suppose he wants a younger woman at that point?
Two very noble activities.

Then he can go and get one? If she's much younger, my pride will probably be hurt and I might want to break up with him, but that's not the end of the world or a reason to not have a relationship in the first place.

I think the Swedish model is downright stupid. How does criminalizing customers help prostitutes? All it does is make life harder for them. They'll have to put themselves in much more vulnerable situations in order to get business, like getting business from hardened criminals. Plus, it doesn't help the poverty situation. It's as asinine as cutting benefits when there are no jobs - HOW ARE THEY GOING TO FEED THEIR FAMILIES? We need to face facts - prostitution will never go away, so why not legalize it and regulate it? And if people only turn to prostitution because they are desperate, then why don't we tackle the real issues; poverty, this ridiculous war on drugs, education, etc.
If you think banning prostitution is a good idea, then I don't think you really want to search for a solution.

Excuse me. What are you suggesting with your comments? Your first comment leads me to believe that you are of the opinion that women do not enjoy or expect sex and are in fact just live sex toys. Is this what you believe?
Your second comment is wildly inappropriate and downright rude and presumptuous. I expect you to apologise.
