If you cared about her you take her even though she isn't Christian.

i WOULD, if it wasnt for 2 Corinthians 6:14 - 17
14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers [do not make mismated alliances with them or come under a different yoke with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership have right living and right standing with God with iniquity and lawlessness? Or how can light have fellowship with darkness?
15 What harmony can there be between Christ and Belial [the devil]? Or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?
16 What agreement [can there be between] a temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in and with and among them and will walk in and with and among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
17 So, come out from among [unbelievers], and separate (sever) yourselves from them, says the Lord, and touch not [any] unclean thing; then I will receive you kindly and treat you with favor.

You calling me a servitor of your avatar of evil?

Those lines refer to non-Christians as servitors to a minor demon - Belial.
it does come across that way....
i have been taught that there are two kingdoms, the kingdom of the world, and the kingdom of god, you are either in one or the other...
John 18:36 -: Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place.[Kingdom of God]"
Ephesians 2:1-3 -:
1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,
2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air[Kingdom of the World], the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient [belial].
3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.
remember, i didnt make the rules, and it doesnt mean i like them.... i just have to trust God knows what he is doing...

Interesting theory, and probably with a number of grains of truth. I would have called it (the mild altercation in this thread) more of a "flame skirmish" myself. How many experiments have you conducted to verify this hypothesis? I can mention quite a few of these without a flame war inevitably errupting. As for the divergence of topic, this is in the philosophy politics and religion forum not the dating and romance one. I am personally glad of the diversion, it has raised a number of interesting subjects (just look at Flagg's list for starters!) Besides, talking about singleness issues can be depressing for those of us Aspergians who have not become completely self assured and at peace with the prospect of permanent celibacy. I used to want to be a monk. This was in the early part of my life when I was not particular as to whether it should be a Buddhist or a Benedictine monk. Add these to the list! However, we probably should found a new topic thread in this forum if we are to continue; some users may feel cheated by the diversion, wanting to hear more advice about dating and church life. The topic title should provide a reasonable guideline as to the contents, provided a reasonable degree of latitude is allowed for random diversions...

Hence my suggestion for inclusion on a list of names and words calculated to arouse controversy, skafather84 (it looks like it may be working). And talk about generalisations! Besides, humanity as a whole could do with a little more contrition, provided it was in moderation. Wallowing in remorse while not actually amending behaviour is clearly pointless and destructive, but genuine repentance is urgently required. And with regard to the alleged fear of copulation (assuming you did not mean fear of gender distinction) a healthier regard for the consequences of one's actions would be of considerable benefit to post-"sexual revolution" society (revolution as in going around to where they were before; it has all been done; there have been plenty of gratuitously nymphomaniac periods compared to which this one is tame; apologies for dubious humour). Certainly there is the issue of judgementalism. To argue that this is not unique to Christianity is of course to rather dodge the point. To be honest though, for many but by no means all churches I believe that is less a current peril than compromising on principle. Another generalisation, of course, albeit a qualified one. Does this now qualify as a flame war, or is it only a skirmish?

a flame war is just pointless insulting....what we've entered into more resembles a debate.

Pretty much my understanding of the situation. It was just that Flagg had referred to a flame war despite little real incivility between us.

Before I was married there was noone in my church I was interested in, well one guy but we broke up....happens. Anyways I did end up marrying my husband Hernando, he went to a different church, but of the same faith. I hated leaving my church, but his was way closer to where we lived, so thats the only reason I left my home church. Whats so funny is, I never thought I'd marry someone like him, he was not what I was looking for. But we became friends, and then good friends, and then very good friends............yeah yeah.

That seems to be Flagg's M.O.
