And yet they always have an excuse for doing it.

From July 26 to August 6th is a long time to surrender. Did the surrender by carrier pigeon?

The day that the majority of Americans actually accept the fact that what they did to Hiroshima and Nagasaki was cruel, inhumane, and monsterous (just like stealing the land away from the natives here and burning down entire towns and crops during the Civil War) is the day that I might forgive this country.

Until then, f**k America!

Well, I think you might be in for a lot of unforgiveness. I don't think anyone relishes what happened to Japan. I don't think any country other than Iran is anxious to repeat the devastation. WW 2 would potentially have gone on a lot longer, Japan pulled the trigger on December 7th, 1941. Over 3 years went by, the US entered the war because of Pearl Harbor. Japan was given roughly 2 weeks to surrender... they didn't. Why don't you hate Japan for starting the US response? Just curious? Is it more 'woke' to hate the US?

What the hell are you talking about?

Nothing to you, go pound sand.

Except of course for the many racist white folks in this country who were alive during the war (or had parents and grandparents during the war) and were taught that "The only good Jap is a dead Jap".

You know why I'm more angry at Americans for Hiroshima and Nagasaki than I am Japan for Pearl Harbor? Because we were NEVER punished for what we did! We were PRAISED for it! And I don't think for one minute that buying the trust of other countries we had destroyed with money makes up for the cruel s**t that we did

But clearly I'm waisting my time and energy on people like you. So whatever. I'm done. f**k America!

Oh and speaking of which, did I mention that President Trump has been pardoning American war criminals lately?

Why do we have so many members defending war crimes and mass murder? The US had started the war on Japan economically. Japan had agreed to surrender but psychos in the US wanted to drop the bombs. Iran doesn't have nuclear weapons, isn't building them and hasn't attacked another country in hundreds of years. Lies are truth with some people. Keep repeating the same lies until they are true.

That economic war on Japan was quite justifiable. Japan had invaded China where they had committed such horrific war crimes on civilians that even Germany's Nazi ambassador, John Rabbe, was so appalled that he sought to rescue as many Chinese as possible and begged his government to reign in their Japanese allies (Rabbe got arrested by the Gestapo for his trouble). America placed economic sanctions on Japan, and covertly aided the Chinese resistance. So Japan retaliated with Pearl Harbor.

Answer me something: why was it somehow ok for Americans to deliberatley attack and kill civilians during World War 2 but not the Germans or the Japanese?

Oh wait, I know why. Because we actually helped win the war.

The only people who ever truly get punished for war crimes are the losers in a war.

Because it's ok when we do it. You can find that in the Nazi archives too. Dropping nukes on civilian cities was as bad as anything the Nazis or Soviets did.

I wasn't justifying American war crimes, I was simply explaining to Powell why America had waged economic war on Japan, prior to Japan instigating a shooting war.
As a matter of fact, the allied bombing of German cities and towns (Dresden having lost more people to fire bombing than those lost in Hiroshima, if such a thing can be imagined) was completely unjustifiable, and doubtlessly could have been prosecuted as a war crime had the Axis won.

Not to mention the fact that we locked Japanese-American families up in internment camps where they were treated like s**t and then only gave them a half-assed 'official' apology decades later and the government paid the surviving Japanese families a small bit of money for the misery we put them through. I heard some of them never even got that money...

Yes, I'm bitter about what we did to the germans and got away with too. Like tearing that country apart and giving the east half to the goddamn Soviet Union.

Let's keep it in WW2, it was your example of why you hated the US.

So, despite a 2 week opportunity to surrender, you think your own countrymen should be executed posthumously? Would it be like Truman's offspring? Or the offspring of the soldier's who answered the call of duty. It's seems to me that you are bloodthirsty and unapologetic in your own right and you feel that you see the only right way.

The Japanese that were executed, did they accept the surrender of the Australians they executed? Because I don't think that we got a surrender to accept. I've read the two comments about surrender, I'm just interested where it went. And why this surrender is in direct contrast to everything I've read about Japanese culture.

Not to defend ripping Deutschland in two, but in all fairness our then ally, Joseph Stalin and his army were occupying the northeast of the country, and were hardly going anywhere.

You're calling ME bloodthirsty because I think American war criminals should suffer the same punishments they subject their enemies to???

Whatever. I give up.

I guess Americans should have the right to torture POWs and murder civilians because they are special or something.

Japan broke the contract with France and occupied Airfields. All we did was stop giving them oil because of it and THEY bombed Pearl Harbor. Damn... are you saying that we should've kept selling it to them so they could kill more people? You're speaking out of both sides of your mouth. Life doesn't become more precious simply because it's lost, en masse. It's either precious, or it isn't. Which is it? You sound like the people in the US who only get stirred up when a kid brings a gun to a school, but screw the poor kids in dangerous neighborhoods who get shot, one by one, by their neighbor.
