I voted yes just because Westerners make me sick and ashamed to be a human being.

Faith. Does it make sense? Putting an imaginary hope into something, trying to grasp that hope, making it malleable..

What?

Maybe.

I'm probably not really bright, or at least I wasn't born really bright; I just like forming lots and lots of dendrites. If I find myself in a senior research capacity one day, I'll owe most of the effort to the stupid brute-force of willpower.

Beggars spend the money people give them on booze; everyone knows that. I may not be too streetwise but I know better than to give random people money. Some schmuck hit me up for change on the street once so I said "Jag kan inte engelska" ("I can't speak English") to him a few times until he took a hint and pissed off.

I don't want a little bastard running around my house taking up all my time either. Besides, do you really believe I can afford to adopt at this time?

What's in it for me?

innocence, n.: when you want to do something malicious but can't because you don't have the power

Stanford Prison Experiment anyone? No one is innocent.

Yes. I honestly can't think of anything I want more. What else would I do with my life?

I'll give a clearer definition of progress then: the growth of mathematical and scientific knowledge of a civilization, both pure and applied.

People living in other cultural spheres don't disgust you as well?

Screw pills

Why seek treatment for clinical depression when you can earn a good living from it instead?

But Master, does not the fire need water, too? Does not the mountain need the storm? Does not your scrotum need kicking?

That depends on how you use it.

I am shunting mine into getting a really really good education and then using it to what I deem to be its fullest potential. Look, I'm already two semesters ahead of schedule.

On the other hand, if you show any sign of weakness, ever, the people around you will descend on you like fucking vultures and rip you to pieces without remorse. So don't do that.

I've had trauma too, worse than most could imagine, but I don't want to blow up the world. You're totally focusing on the negative, but you're going to have to do with your life whatever you wish. You can change your point of focus if you choose to. That would have to be up to you. Nature is beautiful. There are other things you can put your attention on besides violence. I think you're just in big need of attention right now. Grow up!

Contributing to the development of destructive and increasingly sentient military technology is the only thing that will prevent me from going insane.

Only scratching the surface:

I agree wholeheartedly; if I didn't agree I wouldn't major in mathematics and CS. These fields are about studying the most essential forms of nature.

No.

Of course. Anyway, I can't change the direction of our species (namely, into the shitter). No one has that power, least of all me.

And like they say, if you can't beat them, join them.

We deserve extinction. Actually, let me rephrase that - the planet deserves our extinction, to get a break from us. But I'm 100% pro-VHEMT and don't advocate arbitrary quick fixes like nuclear wars.
