Well I can’t speak for everyone, but I just cringe at the thought of a religious fundamentalist regime having nuclear weapons.

But George Bush isn't in power any more..;)

btw...South Africa (the other USA...;) had 6 'Hiroshima-style' nukes, but was the only country to actually disarm and go non-nuke...

Iran has launched a satellite. Once you can get it around the world, you can drop one anywhere.
North Korea is up next.

We make a lot of noise about proliferation, but we haven't stopped anyone yet. The only problem is that the latest players, Pakistan (well, not so recent...;), Iran, and North Korea are more interested in uee than deterrence.

Iran is quite a ways from developing a nuclear weapon. As a nation, it has done no invasive acts although it is taking large advantage in the Middle East of the huge unpopularity of the aggressive acts of the USA and Israel. I doubt the west can stop it from becoming a nuclear power like the numerous others now extany and a violent act will probably only strengthen its position.
