Richard Blumenthal is one the biggest liars to ever be elected to the senate, maybe he can can Liz Warren's running mate in 2020. Someone that lies about their ethnic background and someone that lied about serving in Vietnam both to further their careers, Democrats really know how to pick them.

Because he was critical of Trump regarding the Seattle judge's ruling?

He was in an interview with a Democrat and talking bad about his boss. You think that is OK? It's that how you would treat your boss that just hired you? He should have refused to answer the question.

Maybe it's just a smokescreen ;)

Warren lied about her Native American ancestry? She was only repeating what she had been told by her family. Personally, I have no doubt that she has some sort of Native American background, as so many Americans do, even if it isn't exactly where on her family tree she had thought it was.

She claimed she was Native American to benefit from affirmative action programs, this blonde haired blue eyed white woman has no verifiable Native ancestry but does have ancestor that we know was part of the Tennessee Militia who participated in the Trail of Tears. She was making this claim of minority status based on the just the belief that she has 1/32nd ancestry, she has no shame and this will not be forgotten. Terrible, terrible candidate!

It seems like most white Americans think they're 1/32 Cherokee. It's always Cherokee. Never heard of a whitie trying to capitalize on it like that though. I think she should have had to have gotten conformation from whatever nation she's claiming to belong to, before getting any benefits.

Edit: I looked it up, she's claiming Cherokee LOL!! ! Cherokee men must have impregnated at least 7 out of 10 white pioneer women haha. Unbelievable.

I just believe in an independent judiciary.

I'm glad the judges on the Supreme Court (at least sometimes) don't vote in a partisan manner.

I believe Scalia was a conservative---but I believe he voted his conscience, rather than solely what the conservatives wanted. He was a "strict constructionalist."

I'm part Iroquois. My grandmother as a little girl saw an older female relative (could have been her grandmother but I'd have to check) come off the Reservation in Western New York for a day to attend a wedding. My father's done genealogical research on it too, so I have names and dates to trace back for confirmation. (Not that I would publish that info on a public forum.)

As for me, no I don't intend to claim benefits. That said, I've taught myself how to sing some of the songs in the Iroquois language, and have authentic clothing (circa 1759) which I've worn as a historical re-enactor to help teach people about Native culture and history.

To get this back on topic if only a little, I can also tell you the legend about George Washington in the afterlife from the Iroquois perspective if you're interested.

My mother's side was part of the great immigrant wave of the early 20th-century.

My father's side came here earlier. They lived, primarily, in Michigan in the 19th century. They were urban-type businessmen, so they probably didn't come much in contact with folks like the Iroquois.

Who knows? like Warren G. Harding said, maybe somebody did "jump the fence" (though Harding was referring to African Americans, rather than Native Americans).

I like reading about the Iroquois Confederation. They negotiated, pretty much, on an equal footing with both the French and the English during colonial days. They were respected, even though what ultimately happened (in the 19th century) wasn't a good thing, to say the least.

Even in the old days, "Indian Lore" was something that people looked up to. People have a great respect for the wisdom of the Native Americans--yet, they should have put that "respect" to action, instead of doing all the crap that they did to them.

Fitting that you mention the French and the English ... one of the historical re-enactments that I've participated in for two or three years was the Siege Battle of 1759 where the French and English were fighting over Fort Niagara. That was an important trading post for the Iroquois.

Now below is a photo of me participating with the Cleveland Metroparks re-enacting the French voyageur / fur trade era at Hinckley Lake. I'm standing in the background dressed in red, fourth one from the left.

It's good to have these reenactments.

They provide an illustration, and practical experience in, of what people actually went through in the days before such things as railroads.

For example, before canals, that canoe would have had to be carried through the woods from one river to another. Sometimes in the snow and mud. And over steep inclines.

The canoe you see there is a small one. The Metroparks also has a 34-foot-long replica canoe that seats about two dozen people. Some of the large trade canoes were up to around 34 feet. So some voyageurs would have to carry that, while others would carry packs of trade goods each weighing between 80 to 90 pounds. And if the mud didn't get you, the heat, mosquitoes, and black flies would.

The Iroquois also have a legend about a giant mosquito.

I don't think she ever received any benefits. You can have blue eyes and blonde hair and still have Native descent,a friend has a tribal card from the Choctaw nation.

This is particularly true of the Iroquois, as well. Taking white captives and adopting them into the tribe was common.
