“ She had to leave Los Angeles
All her toys wore out in black and her boys had too
She started to hate every nigge‍r and Jew
Every Mexican that gave her a lotta s**t
Every homosexual and the idle rich

[Chorus]
She had to get out (Get out)
Get out (Get out)
Get out (Get out)
[Post-Chorus]
She gets confused
Flying over the date-line
Her hands turn red
'Cause the days change at night
Change in an instant
The days change at night
Change in an instant

[Verse 2]
She had to leave Los Angeles
She found it hard to say goodbye to her own best friend
She bought a Glock on Hollywood Boulevard the day she left
It felt sad
It felt sad
It felt sad

[Chorus]
She had to get out (Get out)
Get out (Get out)
Get out (Get out)

[Post-Chorus]
She gets confused
Flying over the date-line
Her hands turn red
'Cause the days change at night
Change in an instant
The days change at night
Change in an instant
The days change at night
Change in an instant”

A historical artifact from 1965 that is relevant to this board and all the school debates going on.

Interesting. Rather moving.

Never heard/heard of the song before, but I know the name of the artist.

I remember hearing her sing "Queen of the House" when I was a kid. A country novelty song that was an "answer song" to Roger Miller's (no relation) hit "King of the Road". Roger's song was from the pov of a train hopping hobo, Jody's was from the pov of a stay at home housewife. Turns out(from my just now online research) that her two biggest hits were...those two songs. Queen of the House, and Land of the Brave.

"Land of the Brave" is an oddly anti conformist song for a country song...sympathetic to generic teenage rebellion. I doubt that she had transgender issues in mind, though its tempting to read that into it. But if a 21st Century person wants to take the 1960s hit to heart as a LBGT anthem- why not?

And a 21st Century autistic person could take it as an anthem also.
