It’s a shame there’s no “like” botton on this forum…

Consider it liked.

YaaaY. For Ukraine Naval Victory. Hope this finally gets the Russians Military attention ! And possibly gets them to think twice about their aggressions . If Ukraine can keep their shipping lanes open ? Am thinking that would greatly help their cause .

Heard on the radio today that any supplies sent to the Ukraine by US or it’s partners will be considered an act of aggression . And will respond . ( makes me wonder , if this is going to escalate ) :|

If Kremlin says that, it means they are in fear.
Don't worry. Even if it escalates, it won't reach you.
And for us East Europeans - if we want to live in peace, we have to prepare for war. What Russians say is one thing. What they do is attack the weak not the strong.

What I read is that they said they will
consider US and NATO vehicles transporting anything from neighbouring countries (like Poland) as viable/allowable targets.

First they have to find where aid is coming across the border. Then they have to have the balls to attack US or NATO vehicles and deal with the fallout.

IMO, all that means is send more faster. F them. Keep a never ending stream of munitions supplying Ukrainian forces as fast as they can aim & launch. Beat these invaders back across the border where they came from and let them tell their people they’re finished their Nazi hunt and it’s time to carry on now that they’ve gotten rid of the Nazis.

Obviously no one wants this to go nuclear, but we also can’t just pack our gear and head home and let putin invade country after country trying to expand his Russian empire with impunity. No. Keep sending everything it takes for Ukrainians to win.

On a more positive note, an old neighbour that now lives a couple blocks away, she’s a retired OR nurse of Ukrainian-Canadian descent from the Prairies.. it’s hurt her and her bf living in a whole house and she’s said she’d be willing to take in a Ukrainian family fleeing the war. I know she would, too. She’s done a couple tours to Guatemala and another to the Philippines with Doctors Without Borders to assist with surgeries. Gonna have to follow up with her and see if she put her name on a list to house a family yet.

My mother said she sometimes feels guilty just three of us in this house.. we could house others. I asked if she would, and at the moment with my father’s health, no, not now. Makes sense. Cancer, chemo, heart failure, diabetes etc - he’s in his final chapter of life.. just not quite sure how long it will be. Been touch and go since last August, But he could still have more time than we think. Either way, it’d be difficult to have house guests given his condition so I get that. This war may outlast him, though, so never know about the future.

To escape fighting, Ukraine moves firms to safety
By Elizabeth Piper
https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/escape-fighting-ukraine-moves-firms-safety-2022-04-19/
"
KYIV, April 19 (Reuters) - Often as a fairy, sometimes as the Incredible Hulk and occasionally as a mad slime scientist, Ulia Pastushkova has spent her adult life building her kids' entertainment business in eastern Ukraine.

Over the past 10 years she has built up a stock of hundreds of costumes, puppets and props and a loyal customer base in her home town of Lysychansk. But as the Russian army advanced from the east, she feared her life's work would end up in flames.

She did not expect anyone to take her seriously when she put out an appeal on social media to try to save her business assets. So she was surprised when a fledgling government programme helped evacuate her fancy dress costumes and sound systems.
"

And,

"
Often it is a two-step process - first transporting assets to somewhere safer and then considering where best to relocate the business. But time is of the essence and businesses need to move fast, as Russia steps up its attacks on Ukraine's east.

"When they get to safety, then they can move and relocate to a better place to live and to open their businesses again," he said.

It's a lifeline for Pastushkova, who now dreams of holding parties for children who have been evacuated.

"Now I want to help the children who left the same way I did. I would make them happy for free, so they don't cry and be happy instead," she said.
"

putin seems to have gone full-kim, he gave a speech to his people saying that those who oppose his policies are "scum" and "traitors" that need to be cleansed from russian society.

people there are already starting to fink on each other.

"Traitors to be cleansed from society"... I've heard this language before. Or rather my grandmom did. Several decades ago, the other direction from here.

The Cold War ended, or seemed to have ended,in circa 1990. And ended with a whimper instead of with a bang.

But then with the 2000s Cold War Pt. 2 emerged.

But now cold war II is turning into a hot war.
