Obama has really done it now. His new Chief of Staff is wrong in every single way. First of all, he is a Daley from Chicago. Second of all, he is a DLC man who helped get NAFTA passed, opposes regulation of Wall Street and has spent the last few years as an executive for Morgan Stanley Chase. He is someone who accused Obama of being a left-wing hater of the banksters. I think it would be better to put a Republican in the White House at this point. At least such a person couldn't as easily gut Social Security.

Scary thing is I agree with you, just on the fact the guy is from Chicago and is a Daley. They are known for corruption, Chicago Politicians make Bill Clinton look like a saint.

It's not about the presidency Master Pedant. A Bernie Sanders or Dennis K presidency would be able to do about as much as Obama has done. You need Senators and Congressmen who will vote for social democratic policies and an informed, intelligent and campaigning electorate who can hold their feet to the fire and make sure they do.

There have been times when Obama has obstructed Pelosi and even the conservative Democrat Harry Reid with calls for "moderation" and "bipartisanship". Even considering how insignificant the real ideological leeway is, Obama's conceded it all to the far-right, even as some billionaires decry him for giving them a tax cut at the exact wrong time!

While quite a few regressive Democrats need to be replaced in the primaries, the weakest and most ineffectual Democratic President in the last 100 years needs to be challenged and humbled before his 2012 re-election campaign.
