Yeah, in this country road rage is a major problem.

I'm not convincd that speed cameras are anything more than revenue raising measures.

If they only want to catch psycho drives, why fine people for doing 6km over the limit?

what its really about is people know self-consciously or consciously that machines are in
control or will be in control in the future. A camrea that is watching humans is just the
first step. Oh I say they may be in control now because our reality may infact be a computer simulation in the last days (or second) of the universe. I theorized based on evolution in the end a supercomputer with all the available matter in the universe
with computation power to simulate all practical outcomes that every could be is running
now and we are infact 1 real second away to the end. Our perception of years of life is
merely how the computer defined time. welcome to the end bit<hes! :D

I hate machines.

I miss the old days when, if the King's police thought you were guilty of a crime, then you were guilty of a crime, and no cameras got involved.

It's here too. Funny thing is, the brave Swedish police don't dare to try to catch the really dangerous drivers, the road racers. Most European cars do about 150 mph and some sports car do over 200 mph. Then the cops simply don't even try to stop them, because "it could risk the lives of innocents trying to stop someone driving that fast."

Think about the reason why.

F=MA, right?

Therefore, if you wanted to stop something at speed, it'd take a lot more force to stop 'em.

Imagine a car going at, say 200 kph (I'm a metric guy) having it's tyres popped by a stinger (the spike carpet, not the missile).

The potential for disaster is obvious.

I also must confess that I have very little sympathy for a driver, even a young one, who is killed while racing the law. They risk not only their lives, but other people's.

I'm metric too, just helping my US friends to understand it more easily. And I consider the Swedish police being cowards, despite the fact that it might be dangerous. They're always "brave" when it comes to pick on the ordinary Swede but they s**t in their pants when they face real criminals. It's a well known fact in this country.

And, Quatermass, my dear Aussie friend: Surprise, surprise! Law wasn't made to protect you, me or any other "ordinary" citizen of Sweden or Australia. It was made to keep and protect the power and wealth of the already powerful and wealthy, in your country, in my country and in any other country.

That's why I always like civil disobedience, even if it's sometimes stupid and meaningless. The cops are nothing but two legged watch dogs of the rich and powerful. To hell with the law and to hell with the cops!

One of the few laws that actually were made mostly for the people was the American Constitution, but they've sabotaged it a great deal during these 230 years.

Just a reminder for anyone thinking seriously about whacking a speed camera with a 338 Win Mag, to make sure that if you miss or the bullet sails clean thru, that there are no houses or roads in the line of fire behind the target.

I think (Victorian at least) camera housings look like they are built out of 3mm steel. They would stop 22 rimfire ok, but a high powered rifle would go through it like tissue paper. :D

I know at least two speed cameras that I would whack with a .338 rifle if I had one, without risking anybodys house or property. But then again, I don't own a rifle, except for an air rifle, so I will either blow them up or be satisfied with blowing road signs up.
