I will tell you why US imperialism is in my opinion worse than any other right now and it's that they promote highly inhumane economic prescriptions on everyone and have a vicious ideology underpinning it. Back in the '40s the US actually encouraged Germany to have worker participation in managing enterprises (they claimed this would keep Germany from becoming too strong!) and insisted that South Korea carry out land reform. We're far away from those days.

If Hitler would gone into Russia after his Polish romp, we may not have supported him but we would turned our heads. By going south Hitler managed to destroy too many of our friends and allies. There are indications that we actually wanted Hitler to go after Russia after Poland.

But France and great Britain declared war on Germany because of the attack on Poland. It would be idiotic to attack after Poland Russia if there are problems in the west. Do you remember the Non-aggression pact between Germany and Russia.
So there wasn't any real alternative than to attack France.

Yah, its very sad that that's the case. It shows that the people in power really don't care about Republican Democracy and constitutional rights.

Just because a dictator makes the decision does not make it wrong, case in point Francoist Spain and Salazarist Portugal.

The guy (if he existed) died 2000 years ago but the followers still think he exists, so that's the same for all intents and purposes. And North Koreans conceive of their leader as basically infallible and supreme, so no difference there either. Can you articulate a meaningful difference?

Let's be honest. Most CEOs have near dictatorial powers and quite a few abuse those powers. Remember 2007-2008, how many prosecutions have there been? Of course the government (politicians) support these dictators -- it's a you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours.
