Utterly fair. It's about time that those who draw benefits actually pay into them.

Utterly false. If you eliminate the income tax and go to a sales tax, people will pay LESS overall and feel the impact less because they start with MORE income in their wallets. The overall tax rate would be lower and the government would have a vested interest in stimulating economic activity because more activity = more revenue.
