Thanks for sharing a little history of the Oldavid. Interesingly, I too, experience a drought in desert of HOLY SPIRIT IN Creation Activity for 40 years, as well, from ages 13 to 53. Living in a world of mechanical cognition, am I then; and as mentioned before here, compared by others to a mind that works as a computer, rather than frigging FULL human being.

BUT the source of that desert, is a patriarchal fundamentalist Christian culture, where I live in the New Jerusalem in the U.S. OF FREEDOM for all of God's melting pot children. but in my case, in eye and ear, making effective use of hearing and seeing almost impossible
without intolerable pain for 5 long years; yes, a pain described in medical literature as worse than
Crucifixion becomes minE from wake to sleep; not for several hours of even three days; 5 long years
is my blessings from life and the GOD of dark and light; to learn all about human misery, suffering, and
attempt to teach the rest of the sheep a way to avoid literal human hell in real life for NOW. So yeah, there
are 40 years of 'desert' of wandering the mechanical cognition of "Moses" for me; 40 days in the desert of
"Jesus"; only 1 hour of extremely shallow sleep aided by a powerful alpha blocker for the first of 35 of 40 days,
until no sleep with any aid the last 5 of 40, when the 'angels' and 'demons' of GOD fight within me to tempt me to
END ALL THEN, AND JUST GIVE THE WILL OF SURVIVAL UP; NO DIFFERENT REALLY THAN THE STORY OF JOB DURING
SHUT-IN, 'HUNCH BACK OF NOTRE DAME', IN A BEDROOM FOR 5 LONG YEARS; WITH ALL EMOTION, INCLUDING FAITH,

So yeah, I could go the round of our friend 'Edward Palamar' here; I guess and start applying biblical significance
with all these 40's, fives, Jobs, Deserts, Lent, and all of that; but no; I know better to fall in that devil's trap of
thinking, truly thinking, I am any one any more special; than anyone else on GOD's green and Blue
earth of Nature; who has simply met the challenge of life and come out on the other side born
again, in the metaphor of creative holy spirit alive again; and particularly for me now;

I think the answer has to go beyond chemical reactions. A real issue is when does a fetus become a living being. I wouldn't know, but having seen some scans probably long before birth.

You show a perspicacity and honesty that seems to have been hunted out of this forum. Consider; a live sperm cannot fertilise a dead egg, or vice-versa. Life is a product of life and a zygote is alive right from the start or it, dead chemicals degrade into simpler dead chemicals. Only a live sperm and a live egg can make a live zygote.

Perhaps, the GREAtest

humans the ability for proper perspective
in humility of our smallness and insignificance

Oldavid, I think your answer is completely logical.

Hi aghogday, I will conclude that God is everything. We might enjoy that wonderful thing, but have sought be be apart from that creation. As an artist I experience being in the flow. I will not try to explain the hows or whys, but can say I know which colour paints to use and each brush stroke is beautiful. It is life at its fullest and most effective. It is not standing in the way by using the natural intellect to block the most wonderful things from creativity.

However, we may define life, consciousness a vital thing to be considered. However, I am not sure the brightest philosophers will ever get to grips with it. I understand Whitehead has written more that enough about the subject, but I cannot get beyond his first page. Then philosophy was never my subject. I haven't even got to grips with Berkeley. A thing which does strike me is the academics involved with this kind of thought are mathmeticians.
