Or maybe bring cultural change, try and stop people from being discriminated against for not being white, not being straight, not being cis, not being a Christian or not being male. Stop police from feeling afraid of someone for being black. Allow gay and bi people to be with who they want without slurs thrown at them, receive the same rights as straight couples. Stop scaremongering over transgender people being dangerous like people would use it to fondle children in public bathrooms. Stop acting like being a Christian is like the pinnacle of morality so atheists have no morals, Jewish people are part of some global conspiracy, and Muslims are automatically evil. And stop having a society where calling someone a girl is an insult, where men get criticised for any femininity, and women get taken less seriously even about their own bodies.
Answers to problems like this don't come from just saying to make a law where certain people are above the law, but understand deep cultural problems that need to be changed over time, and special effort needs to be put into places like the police to hold themselves at a higher standard to be aware of their own bias, so that they don't just perpetuate victimization. Because it is pretty clear there is bias when the man in the big house will call one group fine people who need to be listened to, and another as just a bunch of thugs, that one group can exercise all the protests it wants, while the other is being uncivil for simply taking a knee.
The thing is, that white, Christian, straight cis, Christian males were already receiving special protection via aspects of the system, that they have been crying for years over oppression from system just starting to be leveled.

Maybe let's start with valuing other people's lives, rights and interests on part with white, straight, cis, Christian men before we go doing anything crazy Tim.

"Many of us like to ask ourselves, What would I do if I was alive during slavery? Or the Jim Crow South? Or apartheid? What would I do if my country was committing genocide?' The answer is, you're doing it. Right now." —Former U.S. Airman (Air Force) Aaron Bushnell
The conservative capitalist believes that the effort put into creating and maintaining a business outweighs the love and care put into raising a son. I reiterate: property can be replaced, businesses can be rebuilt. Can the same be said of our sons and brothers? Our fathers? The conservative resists criticism of the police tooth and nail in the present day. Only the police of the past deserve criticism. Only the civil rights activists of the past deserve respect. You think the white conservatives of Alabama admired civil rights protesters for their non-violence? They didn't then, and they don't now. Non-violence is never non-violent enough.
People remember very, very well. And police still get away with it. No one forgets that more than the white conservative who has never faced these injustices. The conservative convinces himself otherwise because he is hopelessly oblivious to the black perspective. Conservatives lack perspective beyond the mainstream, conventional, white-friendly, government-friendly version of history. And conservatives still wonder why they have so much support from white supremacists, and not so much support from those their party once freed. Conservatives decry the increased attention that police brutality has received in just the last decade. If they "hate their country" (such a tired, tired conservative platitude), it is because it has not lived up to the promises of equality, freedom, due process, and government accountability. Conservatives of yesteryear accused the likes of MLK of hating his country. Many of them still do. To the conservative, love of one's country seems more to me like love for the country as it is. Love for the status quo, because it is the American status quo. And the status quo benefits the white capitalist more than anyone else. The white conservative lacks the perspective to consider how or why others do not like the status quo as he does.

more like dangerously undertrained and underscrutinized. most police in the US receive mere weeks of training and they will take literally anyone, almost. and then they are given lethal weapons....
the whole profession attracts a lot of aggressive people who have always wanted to commit violence and now they may have a chance to get away with it. normal people see acts of police brutality, who get away with it (rarely with little more than a slap on the wrist) and are sickened, these cretins see it and are emboldened.
action in the US is only ever taken when a wealthy, powerful person's property is affected it seems.
"i didn't think they'd try to destroy MY property!! !"

Gated communities are just horrible bubbles....I'd never want to live in one, even if I had the money to.

Actually, auntblabby used to be a quantum physicist.
He is clearly invoking the "Quantum Field Theory".
There is a major difference between peaceful protestors and anarchist. The two groups intermingle and it is difficult for police to distinguish the two apart.
Anarchist hijack peaceful protest and turn them into riots, smashing glass store fronts, vandalism, torching vehicles, pelting the police with bricks, looting stores and businesses, setting businesses (and even churches on fire), physically attacking innocent people who happen to get in their way.
The anarchist are funded and well organized. There are puppet masters that pull their strings.
For example, in Kansas City, Missouri, stashes of bricks and rocks are prepositioned prior to the riots to that the anarchist will have them readily available to transform a peaceful demonstration into a riot.

In New York, protesters moved from Downtown Brooklyn and Midtown into SoHo, where numerous stores were looted. High-end stores like Bloomingdales, Gucci, Nike Soho, Chanel, Tory Burch, Kate Spade were all vandalized. Best Buy in Union Square and several drug stores were also hit. NYPD counterterrorism officials say out-of-town anarchist groups are largely responsible for the destruction, organizing their moves around police and using encrypted apps.
At a briefing Sunday, the department’s top intelligence and counter-terrorism official, John Miller, said some anarchist groups gathered supplies of rocks and bottles and used scouts to spot vandalism targets. New York City lawyers, one of whom went to Princeton, the other to New York University Law School, were hit with federal charges that they threw a Molotov cocktail into an unoccupied patrol car Saturday. So who is pulling the strings?
