Umm at the beginning we did try but he consistently attacked posters whom he disagreed with claimed the problem was with us without ever addressing the points we made.

His modus operandi was to deflect, obfuscate and hide his true intentions in pages of waffle and irrelevant links, videos and historical precedent with no relevance to the modern era. He would make snarky remarks about our intelligence, that we were too intellectually lazy to debate. Please feel free to go through his posts (although I suspect you won't bother).


What are his true intentions?

I re-read the thread and it's clear to me he's playing Devils Advocate on certain things to elicit debate.

I do not know the history between posters here but your first post appeared to be a 'call to arms' as you are not willing to debate waffle but wish others to do so for you. This place seems very cliquey and as always I will be on the outside looking in on such cliques.


The answers you seek have been already well articulated by the moderators on this thread (namely cornflake and walrus). Please feel free to go back and read their responses to Brictoria.

People bother with that here? Meh, waste of time. Any time I've had a temp ban I just do other things - sometimes I waste time online differently, others I exercise. Whatever. But never have I felt compelled to create a new user account to login and make a point that doesn't need making - whoever I had an issue with knows damned well what my issue with them was; which was probably the post that got me banned. :lol:

Heh. Yeah, I've had a few. Some of them misinterpretations of my posts (IMO) & some of them not. *shrug* whatever.

If I got banned from every forum and social media platform etc I might be a lot more productive in my life. Really, I just need to be more disciplined and get things done.

Yeah mine was a misinterpretation but I guess if you walk a tight rope eventually at some point you will fall outside of the safety net

Welcome to the site, Chorlton88.

As you may have noticed (you did pick an unfortunate thread to look into), the site (particularly this section and the "news" section) have an extremely vocal majority who lean towards the "left" of the political spectrum, so any post that tries to present a centrist or "right" opinion tends to be jumped on, sadly...This one worse than most, which was unfortunate, as I felt it was an interesting hypothesis to discuss.

Do not misunderstand me -- I am not trying to get people to dislike others. I am pointing out that no one has to reply to the posts of people they do not like. This is advice that moderators themselves have often posted.

Also, I think everyone would benefit from asking themselves: "Why is it easy for me to assume people's identities solely from the context of negative descriptions?"

OK - I just think it’s a little insensitive to describe someone as “not wanted”, particularly when they are expressing that they already feel isolated.

It would be morally wrong, and against WrongPlanet rules, to say “we don’t want Fnord”. That would be a personal attack.

It is fine to say “I don’t like it when Fnord does [x]” (a critique of behaviour) or “if you don’t like Fnord then just ignore him” (useful advice).
