Nice to not have the entire cabinet under investigation for corruption

- but am concerned about the coming authoritarianism.

Just
Wait.

This is simple chess.

Agreed on the need for a massive grassroots movement, but I don't think a third party is the answer.

We just need more a lot more successful elections of progressive Democrats like AOC, in Congress, in state legislatures, and various local offices. Once there are enough progressive Democrats elected to Congress and various local offices, it will then become feasible to elect one as President as well -- at least if we don't have a right wing coup.

But electing enough progressives to political office will be possible only if there is a massive, well-organized grassroots progressive movement independent of any political party apparatus.

That's my view. As Dad said when somebody asked him why he'd stopped voting, there's none of them worth the shoe leather. It was common for people to walk to the polling station in those days, and postal voting was a rare thing.

Hard to say whether Sanders is a "Marxist." No doubt he agrees with some of Marx's ideas, but I seriously doubt he plans to bring about a violent communist revolution.

I don't know about ya'll, but I was seriously impressed at how hard Biden and the Dems fought for all the people who face eviction. I have such a warm and fuzzy feeling about them now.

I saw a snippet from that town hall with Don Lemon. Biden claimed that you won't get Covid if you are vaccinated. Certainly he will be taken off off all social media for spreading medical disinformation.

Yes, I’d he tried to sniff my hair I’d slap the pee water out of him.
A friend tried to make excuses for him, like,“ He’s an older man, that’s wasn’t a big deal, it’s what they did back then.”
Uh, no, just no.It’s not.
I only voted for him because the alternative was Trump.

He's creepy and incoherent! Did you see the CNN townhall? What in holy hell was he babbling about half the time?

I'm not trying to derail the topic about Biden, but I sincerely want to know what happened with the sexual assault allegations against him? I heard about them during his campaign and I remember being told that they wouldn't investigate until the election was over. Has he stood trial? Were the charges dropped? I feel like the story just vanished in the excitement of his election and the hype of getting rid of Trump.

It has been completely forgotten about. The Republican’s are still obsessed with stolen election claims. Biden has not done anything in public that is “handsy”. That would be seen today as inappropriate not in a sexual assault sense but as putting himself and others at risk for COVID-19. Attention span of people today is not what it used to be.

For shame.

Maybe Americans need to remind the White House.

I don’t get CNN anymore. Most likely I couldn’t have set through the whole thing anyway. It’s hard to follow incoherent babbling for an extended time.

I just watched it online, I don't even have T.V., any more.

Yeah, you're better off not watching it. It was frightening!

Biden was not Trump and thought of as the Democrat with the best chance of beating Trump. It had nothing to do with agreeing with or liking Biden.

Off Topic
It is going to be mostly or all about Trump again in 2024. As far as I am concerned he is the presumptive Republican nominee. A convicted felon can run for Federal office so even a jailed Trump will likely win the nomination as even more of a martyr to his supporters. If for whatever reason Trump is not the nominee it still will be all or mostly about him. Even with him banned from all these platforms it is about him directly or indirectly. Lets look at the big issues today. Delta variant and the debate about how or if to mitigate it centers around his supporters(even though a lot of the vaccine hesitancy is among blacks for legit reasons). Infrastructure, Trump made that a priority, Critical Race Theory the lead instigator is a Trumpian, more directly the January 6th committee, and “anti fraud” election “reform”. Eventually this might fade or go away but it is going to take a loooong time. At age 63 I expect the Trump factor to cause me at least some degree of angst the remainder of my life.

Biden was and is loved by his family and not many more. People like him or dislike him personally but not strongly. I think we have to go back to arguably the elder Bush and definitely to Ford to find a president with with as much of a “vanilla” personalty. A lot of similarities in how Biden is perceived and Ford was. Like Biden, Ford was perceived as “not the smartest tool in the shed” . Ford had his cringe worthy moments.
