The religious nut cases are very well-organized and want total dominion over every aspect of society and our lives.
Just look at Project 2025.
It’s not wise to write these people off as harmless nut cases, they know what they’re doing. This has been in the works for decades.
Exactly, that is the mistake I made I never thought Roe vs Wade would get over-turned I felt like ' Ha, let the anti-choicers scream about it, they can't actually force people to stay pregnant.' And now look at Texas and many other states.
The religious right is dangerous, and people really shouldn't laugh it off. People ought to take a look at current Afghanistan and Iran...project 2025 will make the U.S like that except in the name of Jesus instead of Allah.
That said if Trump wins I am not so sure the blue states are going to comply with project 2025, also not sure what they could do to fight against it though.
And there had been plenty of people in 1933 Germany who thought this Hitler guy can't possibly last, or that his bark is worse than his bite.

I was born and raised in a state that banned abortion comprehensively immediately after Roe vs Wade was overturned. In less than a week now I am taking off for a blue state that protects rights and freedoms. I don't want to make this topic about this, but screw these Christofascists for making me leave my longtime home, my stable job, my friends, my family, everything I've ever known.
Flipping Republicans have no policy solutions so all they do is fan the flames of fear and hate toward us women and marginalized groups and somehow take victory by being purely evil. (For the record, I'm not absolving the Democrats of their baby steps or bad things they do, but if my state were run by Democrats I wouldn't be having to move right now. Just the facts.)
This is ALL Trump is by the way. He has absolutely no solutions for anything. He's a bumbling fool who just wants power, because he's lived such a pampered life and doesn't understand anything about anything other than manipulating people and abusing his powers. And unfortunately he's the perfect demagogue for the Religious Right to use to enforce their hateful, cruel, anti-science, anti-fact policies on us all.
I wish I could say that if Trump wins blue states are safe, but I can't say that with complete confidence. IIRC Project 2025 has methods for punishing blue states and even replacing any blue state politicians that don't comply with Christofascists. I wish I was joking. I wish I was making this up. I wish I could tell everyone here right now that this is impossible, it's just a pipe dream for the right. but if you look at the history of the US and the world, even most recent history, you can see that we are not safe.
I'd recommend two books for anyone wanting to look more into that: "How Democracies Die" and "Tyranny of the Minority", both by Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt.
I listen to both on audiobook around the same time, so they kinda blur together in my mind, but they were very eye opening. They talk about how democracies all around the world have failed and compare it to the Republicans and Trump. In one or both of the books, they look at how democracy has been gradually weakened by the conservatives (from when they were Democrats to now Republicans). It's a lot to take in. Great books. Also very scary. I don't feel like they're doing any fear-mongering here, either. It's all just as has happened. Plus, IIRC they talked about how much more it would take to completely mess things up. It's just after we've been sitting here watching all of these guardrails rapidly removed, it's hard to have faith that the rest of them will hold. But, perhaps there is still hope, somehow...

Blue states won't be entirely safe in that situation, it's just we might fight back which might not end well for us, or maybe it would end worse for them....(people in the blue states will have to fight for our rights and probably die..) idk how it will go...and I am hoping not to see as I hope Biden just gets a second term but I suppose that depends on the voters. Otherwise I suppose I will be part of the rebellion against trump and probably get killed because I suck at fighting and am a bit of a coward...but I will not support trump or fascism regardless.

All the more reason for the "uncommitteds" to suck it up and vote for Biden, even if it enables Netanyahu in the short term. That's the scenario I am worried would hand the election to Trump. At this point, RFK Jr. is the least of my worries.
With voter suppression in many red and purple states, there is very little room for error.
If the hush money guilty verdict hasn't fazed the MAGAs, nothing will.

I think Trudeau is close to losing power. Trump is on the brink of obtaining near total power.
