Grants and research tend to be more on your proposals and simply being from an ivy league institution isn't going to do much if you're not already crushing it in terms of your proposal and with how specific doctorates are, there's no particular guarantee that a particular college will even have any of the top people in that field.

Some truth in this, but its a fact of life that when looking at graduate RA positions or sessional teaching positions the degree you hold does count. For example staff in Ivy league universities are very biased in picking graduates from other ivy league institutions. I know this for a fact.

Personally, I went to what was a the time one of the top hundred public colleges in the US. It's been pretty much completely destroyed in pursuit of a woke ideology, but at the time it was someplace that most people could get into if they wanted to, because it was actually hard work and you didn't get the chance to really weasel out the way that you might in many other colleges. If you weren't performing, people knew you weren't performing and you got to choose to take harder classes and arrange for harder learning opportunities to be arranged if the ones available weren't hard enough.

I still work in the university sector and as far as I can see (at least in Australia) the KPIs for performance have never changed for academics. So called "woke" ideology makes an appearance in terms of compulsory HR modules on cultural competency but really (if anything) that's useful for some staff who are kind of awkward with dealing with people from diverse backgrounds.

Cultural competence is now a sought after global skill along with speaking > 1 language other than your native language. If you are wanting to work for a multinational corporation, University or NGO then advertising you are anti-woke will guarantee you will either fail in an interview or be given 5 minutes before you are escorted out of the building by security.

There you go again with ad hominem attacks which appear to be little more than projection. Nah, you're wrong. I don't think you even understand what you're talking about.

It might carry some weight if you actually explained how and why they were foolish,

Example: you trying to bait me into explaining things that require no explanation is foolish.

Thank you for proving my point by providing yet another example of the behavior. Rather than claim that people are being foolish or don’t know what they are talking about, why don’t you try engaging with this topic in a meaningful way? The point of PPR is to have rational discussions and debates, not to engage in personal attacks when you disagree with someone. Suggesting you do that is not baiting.

I have made no personal attacks. You are off base here.

Examples of toxic wokeness are the settler/colonizer arguments which I discussed on a previous thread.

Some may accuse others of being settlers/colonizers when such labels are false.
If you are native to the country you are living in, you cannot by definition be a settler, nor a colonizer.

Toxic wokeness is when someone would attempt to label a person as a settler/colonizer.
Sometimes they will add the persons skin colour to support their irrational belief - particularly if one is caucasian.

A white person born in North America is not a settler nor a colonizer and never will be. End of story.
