"God" by any name is an aspect of our own trinity. In short... it's YOU.

Reading the bible or any other religious/mythological text isn't going to do you much good if you don't understand that.

Atheist: God(x) x = 0
Monotheist: God(x) x = 1
Agnostic: God(x) 0 ≤ x ≤ 1
Dualist: God(x) x = ±1
Polytheist: God(x) x > 2

My $.02: God(x) x = 1/0

This is as close as I have come to describing my true beliefs.

The character of God that requires total subjugation to his regime or eternal damnation rings pretty close to that of George W. Bush that requires you to accept his version of democracy or be blasted by massive military force. I'm not terribly sure I would agree to worship GWB.

God is not "everything", at least not the God of the Bible.
He is the Creator and Ruler of all, but is not of the same
essence as the creation.

The belief that "God is everything" is pantheism.

I have considered pantheism before.

Gah! :eew: I would never ask you to worship George Dubya Bush! Are you quite alright? Are you not feeling well? :duh: First of all, don't ever try to worship a fellow human being. Even if his name is Richard Dawkins.

Why would someone worship Richard Dawkins?

Yes, he's certainly a prominent atheist. However, I'm far more interested in his evolutionary biology than his atheism.

I should read An Ancestor's Tale, I've been meaning to for ages...

Well, if we have to choose between Ratzinger and Dawkins, I think we would have to make a poll.

BTW a Catholic Pope is not be worshipped by the faithful in the same way God is worshipped. He is a very holy man, but a man nonetheless. Even the canonical saints should not be worshipped. Revered, but not worshipped.

God is jealous that way.

The concept that an all powerful being that knows everything and can do anything can be jealous makes this being a total schmuck. If God is that stupid it is obviously very dangerous and and certainly not worthy of any form of love.
