We each entered the world due to the effects of a blunt instrument. Don't disdain its worth. - Adam Ensimainen

The human brain is an extraordinary instrument and hopefully someday the human race will discover how to use it properly. - Suuri Ajatelleja

Fanciful creatures are rarely well designed. An angel with those huge wings could never relax in an easy chair and a devil with a long tail would have a terrible problem using the toilet. - Franklyn N. Stine

"Two loves I have of comfort and despair,
Which like two spirits do suggest me still:
The better angel is a man right fair,
The worser spirit a woman colour'd ill.
To win me soon to hell, my female evil
Tempteth my better angel from my side,
And would corrupt my saint to be a devil,
Wooing his purity with her foul pride.
And whether that my angel be turn'd fiend
Suspect I may, but not directly tell;
But being both from me, both to each friend,
I guess one angel in another's hell:
Yet this shall I ne'er know, but live in doubt,
Till my bad angel fire my good one out."
~ William Shakespeare

(I think I have posted parts of this sonnet before, but talk of angels and devils make me think of it. There is just something very personal about it.)

When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.

The expectations for Obama rescuing a thoroughly vandalized nation would lead one to believe Jesus was black. Actually, considering the stories of his miracles, he was probably green. - C. V. Emhous

All the best people assume happiness is proportional to income and therefore a rich spinster must be happier than a poor married woman. In order to make this true, they do everything they can to inflict misery on the latter.
