in honor of the OP's request for comments from WP folk with "at least one psychic experience" - i can say that when i was younger, i witnessed my older sister and her best friend on many occasions, simultaneously pick-up the telephone before it rang, when one would seek to chat with the other telephonically. my older brother learned he could "water-witch" when he was a u.s. marine -he still can, most recently when he helped me find a buried septic pipe underneath my backyard using a Y-shaped fallen tree branch he found. my older brother long claimed that when he was in the army, he would involuntarily astrally project when he was tired - he could be riding his motorcycle when suddenly he would "see" himself from above his own body as thought he were a ghost looking down from above.
when i was in the army, there were multiple occasions where other GIs would ask me about something i had been privately thinking about without ever having mentioned anything aloud to anybody. one bona-fide psychic told me i had "a leaky mind" that even nominally psychic folk could easily read. i can't count the number of times that somebody standing next to me would start humming or whistling a song/earworm [NOT a popular song] i had running in my head at the time, or i would start whistling a song only to have somebody else tell me "i was just thinking of that song!" i was sitting in my room one day listening to music when suddenly a foreign thought overrode the music, "DAMN IT! i forgot my keys!" and for a few seconds i was wondering what THAT was all about when suddenly there was a knocking at the door and it was my roommate wanting to be let in, as he had forgotten his keys.
my mother had no psychic talents but she did tell me that her mother had a psychic connection to her beloved eldest daughter- she would always know ahead of time when her eldest was going to drop by for a visit, and cook a "welcome-home" meal for her in advance of this meeting- mind you all, this was in 1920s backwoods japan with no telephones, and no written correspondence as my grandmother was illiterate. my mother's older sister was also psychic and once cruelly told her eldest sister [whom she hated] she she would die soon, and within one month the oldest sister did indeed die, of unknown causes.
on this note, they say psychic talent skips a generation, and this seems to be my situation. i consider my isolated psychic incidents to be flukishly freakish more than any real talent, in that i never was able to read anybody else's mind or manifest any other kind of psychic function by my own volition- it was always involuntary, i.e. a foreign thought would just pop into my head from time to time. i don't even know if this phenomena should be called psychic, but i don't know what else to call it.
most recently, when my father died, both me and my mother were simultaneously jerked from sleep by his "voice" shouting our names individually [i heard my own name, and my mother heard her name]. when my mother died 2 years later, i was roused from sleep at least once by her "voice" shouting my name. also there were multiple occasions of unexplained "poltergeist" activity in my parent's now empty ['cept for me living as caretaker inside] house, with loud banging and thumping in locations of which i could never find any physical cause. this noise lasted for several minutes on several occasions until i would say aloud, "OK, Mom and Dad! i hear you!" at which point the noises would suddenly stop. one day on the way to the veterans' cemetery carrying my late mother's cremains, i suddenly felt surrounded by a pronounced loving warmth i never felt from mom when she was alive [as she was a typically reserved japanese woman]- this feeling lasted for a good 15 minutes or so, and it greatly comforted me.

PPR is a poor forum for this sort of discussion, as rationality tends to dominate mere belief here. this said, anybody is welcome to call me crazy but i am not bothered by the name-calling because i know what i experienced was not just my imagination. i thank the OP for this particular topic, as i long wished there were somebody i could talk-to about it.

for other WP readers curious about this topic, i would recommend the book, "Hello from Heaven."

hello sand :) i appreciate your opinion. i certainly did not expect any of these things to happen to me, as my prejudice [before the fact] was that these things were impossible. but "something" showed me differently and made me change my mind.

Just be careful about saying such things auntblabby, most convinced religious people use that argument. :p

Unfortunately that belief is still widely held in some parts of the world.

Asmodeus' Abilities
-Contacting the dead (Cold Reading)
I've brought somebody to tears giving them an accurate account of how their aunt had died, when, and from which cancer. I then explained how cold reading worked. They refused to believe me, insisting I was psychic.
-Remote Viewing (Hot Reading)
This meaning gathering information in advance to aid a reading. Facebook pretty much enabled anyone to do this, although the cold reading experience mentioned above didn't involve any hot reading.
-Fire(Body temperature control)
This one's great; by doing the right movements, happening to have a good circulatory system and concentrating in the right way, I can heat up my body in a cold environment. I've stood around in snow, around -5°c or lower without wearing a shirt, for hours. This one took more time to develop than the others, I had to get attuned to my physiology, and trick my body into thinking it was colder than it was. I have to hand it to the monks with the wet towels though, I couldn't do it to that extreme.
-ESP(Deduction)
My most powerful ability, developed mostly through reading the scripts of ancient master Arthur Conan Doyle :P , this bestows me with the ability to glean information otherwise invisible to others.

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
-Arthur C. Clarke

There is not an iota of empirical evidence that support the above supposition.

If it ain't empirical it is bu**sh*t.

I have quarter. It's nothing special, just a quarter. It does something really weird though. 90% of the time I can flip on the side I want. Just this quarter. The 90% holds true for both sides. To test this empirically, I did a small statistical study. I set alpha to .05. I decided to flip it 25 times for heads, and 25 times for tails. The first was 20, and the second was 18. The probability of this is .0085. Needless to say, this is a weird quarter. Is that empirical, or is statistics useless without a theory to explain it?

As for ESP, I can't do anything ESP. I can however control my emotions. I don't control my actions, I control my actual emotions. I decide what I feel, when I want to feel it. I can also lie to myself, so that even though I know it's not true, I believe it for a short amount of time. About ten minutes or so. Very useful for getting out of trouble. And playing poker.

i am appreciative of your concern, phil777, but i am willing to handle being called delusional or a religious nut [even though i have no use for religion], merely by me saying "i have seen a glimmer of the light." the "light" is agape. hey, it works for me. but i believe that others will see the light also, when it is the right time for them to do so.

I don't understand the part in bold. :?
BTW, did you have a reliable flipping machine, or handle the coin manually?

In the first 25 flips, I intended to get all heads, but instead got 20 heads. The same for tails, but I got 18. 20 and 18 were the number of successes for each trial, heads and tails.

I flipped it manually, but I really flipped it fast. I didn't even know they had flipping machines. I just googled them. Really interesting.

I liked your post & understood what you were saying. I do think there may be such a thing as ESP & psychic ability, because I've had odd occurrences along this line in my life, too. But there's no way anyone will ever be able to prove it scientifically, so many people here will just dismiss the subject after demanding proof, of which there is none. You're right, this forum (maybe the entire site of Wrongplanet) isn't a good spot for this kind of thing. Too many Left-brainers dwell here to comment on a Right-brained type of discussion. I will check out the book you recommended. Thanks,

Despite the current popular opinion polls, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a religious person. I'm not a Bible-thumping, pew-jumping uber-Christian, but I do believe in God -- as well as the right of others to believe in whatever they want.

I had a strange experience when I was young
I was walking along the curb of the pavement, pretending I was a balance beam walker. I dreamed of being a gymnast at this point, although my dyspraxia kinda put an end to that.
Anyway, I went to step of the curb, when I realised I was floating in mid-air. I didn't feel scared (I was 9 and fearless) and attempted to walk further, however my feet then reconnected with the ground with a bump. For the rest of the day I attempted to recreate what had just happened to me, but I'd never been able to recreate it.
Was it some strange form of telekinesis you think? I felt like I had solid ground under my feet but I could see I didn't. A crisp packet blew under my feet whilst I was floating there, maybe 20cm's of the ground?
I wasn't under the influence of any drugs (I was 9 dammit XD)
and I wasn't insane.
But apart from the crazy story, my abilities
I seem to attract ghosts, in most of my pictures I have at least one orb in the background, and I regularly see figures that I can only get a glimpse at, then they are gone. I've never tried building my abilities yet, although I somehow know my gran (who died when i was three) is around from time to time. Another experienced and talented psychic confirmed that she watched over me from time to time, although she was about to decrease her visits as something she had been waiting for for many years was about to happen. Later that month my grandad died :S
I could launch into the whole grandma story, but this post is already too long

thanks! ****

This is a thread for you psychics out there on the wrong planet.

List you ability's ones you actually have. Even if they only happened once as a freak occurrence.

Also feel free to speculate how you managed to do them .

I'll go first with my more believable ones.

I'm psychic I can feel what people are feeling (empathic). I can read faces (I will explain that one if asked). I can talk to trees if I want to. I can communicate with animals.
And connect to "the grid" as the indigo's call it to communicate with people consciously or unconsciously.

Among other things which I may add later.

I speculate I am able to do these things By picking up on the electromagnetic frequency that everything gives off and being able to send and receive information that way.

but that's just my theory.

You place nonsense on a public board and expect not to be challenged?

There is no ESP. It is physically impossible. The brain does not generate enough energy to transmit information directly, skull to skull. A physical intermediary must be used. Brain energy has to be amplified through muscular work to transmit information.

as spock would have said, "fascinating." that sounds like the occasional phenomenon of the same kind of perceptual time dilation which sometimes occurs in times of imminent danger, when everything seems to slow down- the brain often quickens its mental processing in such times, increasing the resolution of time perception. but otherwise it sounds physical in nature. maybe some part of your brain hiccupped by the occasion of some subtle stressor. happens to the best of us.

the orbs are eerie. my sister saw [in real time] a floating elongated orb floating over the corpse of my late father, on his deathbed- it disappeared after a minute or so. otherwise, catching glimpses of fleeting dark objects [especially off to the side] is often a temporal lobe phemomenon. but who knows? maybe the temporal lobes [containing the "god spot"]
The God Spot
could be some folks' psychic "radio station receiver."
